Hello!! First post ever! (So excited about it ;)). So I am usually an A student although last semester I finished A&P I with a B+ and was dissapointed in myself about it but considering that by the end of the semester, 70% of the class withdrew or just didn't pass the class, I felt fortunate that my hard work paid off. So here I am in A&P II, surrounded by all the people that made it through which for the first time makes me feel quite intimidated. May sound strange or selfish but it's such a weird feeling. I'm sure someone can relate?? We haven't taken a test yet or anything but I feel like the wind has been sucked out of my sails for some reason. Almost discouraging, or feeling inadequate. I don't know. I just love this website and wanted to share my story hoping for someone to tell me to buck up and stop feeling less than! Thanks all!!! :o

If you made it through, it's for a reason. You have every single right to be there and include yourself in one of those "smarties"! If people in the class are flaunting their ingelligence, they are doing so because they are actually insecure about their intelligence, so don't let their type discourage you.

Buck up and stop feeling less than!!! ;)

Always remember, "Smart is Sexy" -- Smart is Sexy.... now, say that - at least 3x a week! Eventually, ya believe it. Or, listen to the song: "I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred.

Better yet, watch -- "legally blonde" and "legally blonde - red, white, blue" ---> Smart, funny, delightful and light. It's like yogurt!! Yay!! Cute huh? lol.

^^ exactly -- I had the same feeling going into APII -- no more relying on a slight curve, no more teacher having to dumb down tests late in the semester to avoid having 90% of the class flunk out, etc.

re students "flaunting", there was this one chucklehead who would always try to blurt out an answer to every question the teach was asking in open class discussions. his batting average was about .400. great for baseball, not so good for school. after he realized that instead of looking smart he was just looking lame and annoying the rest of the class, he piped down.

I wish some of the "smarties" in my classes had that level of self-awareness! I had a guy in both semesters of A&P who was very vocal about his desire to go to PA school. He was also vocal about his desire to go to an out of state program because the only PA program in this state wasn't reputable enough for him. He didn't want to be a nurse because, in his words, he wasn't compassionate enough. This was his second try at A&P (he got bad grades the first time around because of "personal issues") and I think he barely got Bs both semesters. He thought he was a genius.

Grades don't reflect what you know, in my opinion. I am not an A student, for some reason tests kill me, especially if they are multiple choice. I do great on written. I can guarantee when put on the spot, I can confidently explain what has been asked.

I understand what you are saying though, the 'know it all' individuals can be difficult.

Basically what I am trying to say is, even though your grades are not an A, it doesn't mean you don't know what you are talking about.

I really hate M/C exams lol! Give me written all the way! :)

:lol2::yeah: You just described SEVERAL people in my APII class. But I don't know if they'll ever realize that they are annoying. OP you are just as intelligent, worthy and gifted as the rest of the class. Keep in mind that some of those chuckleheads (that word just tickles me to no end) may have come from an easier teaching style. Your B+ may be worth a gold brick in comparison to their knowledge. Do NOT undercut yourself from the beginning. You've got this in the bag!
