The State Education Department is phasing out the option permitting students in RN nursing programs to practice as LPNs and after June 1, 2007, will no longer accept applications for licensed practical nursing based on completion of Form 2-EQ. To be eligible for this option before it is phased out, all applications must be received and requirements must be completed by June 1, 2007. (February 27, 2007)
The Office of the Professions is now offering all NYS licensed and registered professionals the opportunity to be issued a professional photo ID card. (December 1, 2006)
Was just looking around the site, usually same old stuff, but found something new tonight. Thought I'd pass it on.

Thanks for the info on the ID card. I just looked it up and for $20.00 I think it's worth it. The only problem I would have is that they use the NYS driver's license photo & I have an out of state license-meaning, I have to go to DMV and wait on those infamous lines to get a free photo. I find it amusing that the website (office of the professions) is aware that the DMV staff has no idea about this and will issue a letter explaining it to DMV. Sounds like this can become a memorable experience

When I got licensed last summer, I called the BON and asked about an ID card and was told "nope, no more". Said how in demand I expected they would be if offered again, and heard "nope, not happening".
LOL, I didn't think I was THAT persuasive!
Am a little disappointed they will be using DMV photo, as mine is several years old and I resemble an axe-murderer. When I sent in my application for RN licensure, they wanted a current photo and I sent a GREAT, flattering picture a friend took. Good hair, good smile, LOL....and naturally, THAT picture doesn't appear ANYWHERE!
Good job RNsRWE, next time I need someone to change someone's mind, I'll call you:lol2:
LOL! Hey, you never know!
