my mother was an lvn/lpn who worked in ccu for 16 years and loved every minute of it. the stories she used to tell when she came home from work were something else! anyway, i wish you well with your interview. you have the fact that you are already a nursing student going for you. show a positive attitude at the interview (which i have no doubt you will), even if they throw you a question that kind of knocks you off balance. don't show it, keep your cool. i usually post this list for people who are looking for their first rn job, but i'll post it for you. just keep these ideas and the positive attitude in mind while you're being interviewed as most managers have these things on their minds these days:
good luck!
I had my interview today - I think it went well, but won't know for a couple of days. Turns out that the ICU job was filled internally, but I interviewed with an ICU step-down unit. The nurse manager who I interviewed with said he felt like I would get much more experience in this unit than I would have in ICU. The whole unit always works 12 hour shifts, which would be long starting out, but that's ok. This position would be weekends. So now I just wait - I hate that!
YIPPEE!!!I got the job, and it's more hours than I'd planned but I took it anyway! It will be Fri,Sat,Sun from 7p-7a. That's a lot more that what I'd planned, but it was all that was available.
:w00t: Congrats on the new job!!:w00t:

I just got a call for an interview next week for a CNA job! It looks like it will be in the ICCU/MICU which I think would be a great opportunity. Everybody I talk to says things like "it's only an aide job" but I haven't worked in 6 years, and this is a completely different field from what I've done in the past, so it's exciting to me. It's a chance for me to get in the trenches (so to speak) and see what I'm really going to school for.
Anyway, I'm very excited about it! Thanks for reading!
