Hi everyone! I'm currently in an accelerated BSN program and am taking a class on issues in nursing. For this class I would like to interview a nurse about HIPAA and social media and then use it to write a research paper. I was wondering if an RN would be able to answer some Qs for me? I will add the questions here, but I can also email anyone that is willing to help! Thank you!!
1. What is the role of HIPAA in preserving confidentiality?
2. Do you think that most nurses understand HIPAA's role in social media?
3. If you came across a post on Facebook, if that was an obvious breach of patient confidentiality, what would you do?
4. What are the consequences of inappropriate social media use? For example, posting on Facebook about a coworker or patient?
5 What is your feeling about true privacy existing on the Internet and why?
6. What social media platforms are beneficial for nurses?
7. Are there any platforms that nurses can use that are HIPAA compliant? Please name.
8. How do you network professionally?
9. How do you use social media?
10. What advice would you give to a new graduate nurse about using social media?

Interview a nurse in person. You are asking people to basically do your homework for you.

Definitely feels like these questions are more about the research you should be doing.

For a *research paper,* appropriate sources for finding factual information is journal articles, reputable websites (CDC.gov -- good. DownWithVaxxing.com -- bad.), textbooks etc.
Opinions such as most of your questions are supposed to come from YOU. For example, what has your research revealed TO YOU about social media's benefits? About privacy online? About nursing's collective understanding re: appropriate use of social media?
