Interview for CSULB's Nursing School?!

Published

Hey everyone who applied for CSULB's Fall '09 School of Nursing (And current/former CSULB students)! I got a call today to schedule an appointment for an interview with the nursing faculty. I did not know an interview was necessary and part of the process! I am very nervous and don't know what to expect for the interview! Has anyone else gotten a call regarding this?

When I answered and heard "..from California State University of Long beach" I thought I was gonna get news of acceptance, but nope, just to schedule an interview, haha.

Specializes in critical care, PACU.

if the movie is clinical based, just go for airway breathing circulation as interventions. dont be afraid to ask for help from the nurse (like if the patient is nonresponsive). no pulse --> press code blue button and start CPR. if pt is desaturating (low 02 sat

The lady that called me spoke as if it was a group interview. She said "you guys will watch a movie and answer questions."

Plus, I don't think they would want to individually interview 125 students.

Any updates from those who have been interviewed? How'd you do??!

Which program exactly is this for?

This is for the general BSN program at CSULB.

hey sorry for not updating, just got back from vacation. the interview wasnt really an interview, it was pretty much communication exercises.

They said we would know if we got accepted by the 17th of this month, but so far nothing yet. Anyone hear from them?

Can you tell us more about these communication exercises? Anything that would help us prepare or get ready for the interview? I'm apply for next term. Please help. :yeah:

There's nothing really you can do to prepare for the "interview." I think it was just to see if you have effective skills to talk with people haha, it was quite pointless if you ask me. We watched a video and did a little recap about it by writing several short paragraphs and then did an exercise with a partner where we described objects to the other person and they had to place them accordingly, it was kind of fun actually.

Anyways, we should be getting a response about whether if we got in or not by the 17th, has anyone heard from them yet? I've been checking the mail everyday these past weeks and nothing yet!

havent heard anything yet either, i wonder if theyre gonna call or mail us the info.

i know some people got rejection letters 2 weeks ago, but its a good idea to check at the nursing office, last year they posted the accepted students and alternates, i believe, a month before they started sending letters out.

good luck to those applying, ill be impatiently waiting as well

Oh thanks for the info! I live an hour away from CSULB so I don't think I'll be making a trip to see if I got accepted haha, although it's very tempting... I emailed them asking if the notification is going to be by standard mail, e-mail, or phone, but no response from them yet . And for the people you know who got the rejection letters, did they get interviewed?

Are you a Fall '09 applicant too??
