Interview attire

Hey all! I have an interview coming upat MUSC and it's for an EMT-B position for their ambulatory service. I usually just wear black pants, some nice shoes, blueshift, with a tie. I know there will be a lot of competition for this position and from what I hear you're lucky to get an interview there. So I'm wondering should I stick wiu what has always worked for me in the past? I'm thinking a suit but didn't know if that'd be too much and make me seem stiff shirted, etc what about just the vest w/out the jacket. I'm really wanting this position so I can get more hands on experience than my current occupation and get my foot in the door for them to send me to School to become an RN. I hear they like to send ppl to school to further their occupation but I don't know myself....just what I heard.

Alright, sounds good. I won't mention the RN thing. You're right it's probably best that I didn't.

Marc, thanks for that link. Very informative and helpful!

You applying at MUSC in Charleston? I wore a suit for both my interviews there.

I have some links for interview prep and thank you note etiquette that I can send you if you'd like. I used them when I was looking for my RN job, but I'm sure you could apply the info to your situation. Good luck!

Yeah! That'd be great if you could send me those. I need all the help I can get...haha.

A vest is WAY over the top- like prom or wedding. If you just wear a nice suit- something not too flashy... with clean white shirt and classy tie... You will look like a million bucks!

Someone mentioned to me that I should try for a medium blue color b/c they read that certain colors affect how ppl first perceive you. Something like red means you demand attention and blue is friendly, etc. I dunno. I think white would be just fine lol but a nice blue could also make me stand out from the others. Cuz I do look good in some blue ;)

All the successful business men I know, wear blue shirts, some, blue shirts with white collar and cuffs. So if it is good enough for them, it is good enough for you. Peace!

That's up to you and it shows your personality but I think a white shirt looks really sharp! When my husband wears them to go observe Dr's at the hospital he looks sooo handsome and professional... So I'm biased :)

Good luck! You are going to do great.

Here is some advice for you- be yourself, stay calm- if you tell yourself don't do this, don't be nervous...etc- you may actually do those things because you are focusing on what "not" to do... replace it with uplifting and encouraging thoughts. Take your time and I always say a prayer and it works!

Thanks for everyone's help, I really appreciate it! Everyones opinions will def be taken into consideration. I'll try to make a post when I found out something after my interview!

Heyheyhey, check your private messages for those links! :)

Wear what you are comfortable in. But there is nothing like a nice suit.

I wear either dark gray, black or navy skirt, just above the knee, with low healed pumps, a good but not too feminine white blouse, and either a matching or co-ordinating jacket. Hair neat and simple jewelry - maybe a strand of pearls or stud earrings and a watch. I love my legs, and skirts are flattering on me, which is why I wear them instead of pants. I firmly believe that knowing you look good helps boost your confidence, so wear something that you like on yourself.

NUrsing interview attire should be no different than any other job interview. You are giving an impression of yourself, and you want it to be good, neat, attractive and complying to the rules of interview dress....showing that you follow the rules, even with something as simple as clothing, shows that you care to put forth the right impression.

good luck
