International School of Nursing out of FL

Nursing Students Online Learning

Has anyone heard of the international school of nursing? I understand that the school is based out of florida? To my understanding you study and take online test and travel to the Dominican republic for clinicals? After that is all said and done you take your boards in the city and state of your prefrence. A fellow co worker swears that it is wonderful program and kinda bashes the excelsior adn program? She says that there are many of her friends who have done the program, and are working in the US as rn's; now! If the international school of nursing is a wonderfull program, so be it.... I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it and if you all know of anyone who has completed it?

Thanks

If it's this one: http://www.internationalschoolofnursing.com/ -- you might want to read the fine print on the home page that says:

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF NURSING AND IT'S ACCREDITED AFFILIATE INSTITUTIONS AWARD GRADUATES WITH A DIPLOMA IN NURSING AT THE COMPLETION OF PROGRAM. THIS IS NOT A DEGREE GRANTING INSTITUTION, AND ISON IS NOT ACCREDITED BY ANY U.S. STATE BOARD OF NURSING.

So I'm not sure how the licensing works; sounds like you have to come in as an international nurse? Not sure.

Aha, found it here: https://secure.wf-api.com/www.internationalschoolofnursing.com/20.html?sm=30803

They state that students are responsible for checking with their state BON to determine their requirements for licensing foreign nurses, and they caution that all states are different.

Im already signed up with excelsior... i was just wodering. I think that i just ran into yet another nurse that does not like the idea of excelsior. thanks for your research (lunahrn)!!!!

Aha, gotcha. No problem! I think I'd rather take my chances with EC ... oh, wait! I already did! :D

oh yeah... by the way, congrats to you lunah for that accomplishment! I know that I will walk in your shoes and all the other EC grads, one day soon!!!!!

It may be a good idea to call the school and get the information directly. I was told by the school that they just graduated the FIRST class in July.

Interesting concept but I'm always wary of anything "overseas". The primary location is in Haiti. I guess if you know of people who did the program than that is 1 thing but I'm always skeptical- just part of my personality! I wonder how much it costs in comparasion to EC.. I know clinicals in the Dominican Republic and Haiti might be a nice plus but I'm sure the accomodations/plane tickets could get costly if you are there awhile.

Suddenly I wish I was single with no kids or family for just a minute so I can live on an island and go to school (I love St. Kitts).. but then I snap back into reality and know that I had to do EC in order to be a RN and have my family. Why didn't I know about this stuff way back when? :icon_roll

must be nice!! my gi doc went to school in st kitts.

Don't go to this school, they are not accredeted in Haiti or anywhere in the US or the Carribians. This school is a big scam, I know many people who went to the school who were able to take the US licensing boards but is unable to practice bacause the so called school is unable to prove that they are accredited anywhere. I feel very sorry for my friends who spent their hard earned money on this program. I hope one day the owner or management gets sued for the money they have scammed student out of....Why have a school and you can't even get your students US license after they have taken US boards and passed.....This school is so not worth going to, find a school that is accredated that's all I got to say!!!!!!
