:D Hi to all! I would really appreciate some advice, my husband really wants to emigrate to Florida and I understand I need to do the NCLEX exam, etc. I have been nursing since 1989 and am adult branch trained. I have a BA degree in Nursing Practice and have experience in teaching, assessing, mentoring, palliative care and am currently working as a Deputy District Nursing Sister. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes xx

Thank you, I just really need to know where to start. Ive had a look at the CGFNS website but I am starting to become confused!! What is your advice? Where do I start??

Kind regards:uhoh21:

You sound like I felt when I first started out with my plans :chuckle

I'm going to Florida and I went through the process by myself (no agency) so the best advice I could give you is to start by applying to CGFNS for the CES (Credentials Evaluation Service) for the Florida Board of Nursing.

Hope this helps get you started :)

Thanx, thats where I'll start then. Any other advice greatly received!!:banghead:

My advice is to visit a few areas. Living in South East Florida is like living in a totally different state to areas further north. As litle as an hour's drive makes a big difference. North Florida has a real winter (not as cold as the UK, but a lot colder than here). The cost of living in the north of the state is a little better than here in the south. The poster that warned about house prices was not kidding. She did not mention property taxes, which are getting high enough to prevent people buying homes. Car insurance is not cheap either - I think that is more reasonable in the north too. Orlando and Tampa are the big building boom areas now. There is no where else to build around Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Good luck finding somewhere.

Hi, I am just a lowly nursing student but have big plans to relocate to Texas, you should look it over the West is lovley and if you have kids the law there is a lot tougher to protect them . Anyway can I just say that Adevia (type this into Google) are great , there is an American woman who works in the UK office and she really knows her stuff , hope this helps, Michelle.

Specializes in cardiac cath lab.

Yes she is lovely but beware they are only out to make money. She was really nasty to me when I found a hospital of my own and did not go with them.

Im a little wary of using these agencies, thanx anyway.
