Hi, I am just a lowly nursing student but have big plans to relocate to Texas, you should look it over the West is lovley and if you have kids the law there is a lot tougher to protect them . Anyway can I just say that Adevia (type this into Google) are great , there is an American woman who works in the UK office and she really knows her stuff , hope this helps, Michelle.

UK nurse in process of going to Florida
Okay thanks I was told that prisons are crying out for nurses in the US so guessed that I would have more chance of sponsership. I think that I must be dim as I still have no idea of the steps to take and in what order, can you please tell me starting from graduation from a Scottish university, thanks. I was looking at the immigration site for the US and am now worried about the chances of obtaining a visa . My husband and I will both be nurses and if we are planning to buy a property for cash before we even move out, maybe to rent not sure if this wil help visa application. Can you work on a tourist visa and what chance do you have for the US to extend it to a green card? Is the New York route an easier option , will we have more chance of visas if we apply to NY, sorry for so many questions.

Thankyou for that , we want to relocate so badly but do not have the first idea where to start as nobody gives you any idea of what hours you need in each area, any idea ? How long will the whole process from start to finish take and have you ever heard of anybody doing the conversion courses for this reason, I have been told that it is eighteen months long not sure if you can get a bursary or not , so many questions. Michelle. PS, how do you know how many hours you have completed yourself? I can't remember .

UK nurse in process of going to Florida
Hi my husband and I are looking to relcate to Texas after completion of our nursing degrees. We have been in touch with Adevia and they sound great but we have been warned against them ,can you confirm for me that if you have the right hours in each area that you have a good chance of getting to the US with them.We may have to do conversion courses as my hubby is child trained and I adult, although I was told that with adult nursing you may scrape the hours together with any maternity and mental health placements that you can get. Do you know if Adevia sort out any prison jobs at all, thanks for your time Michelle.

relocating from UK to US.
Hi spoke to a woman from Adveia and she was great, you do need all nursing areas , adult nurses should try for maternity and mental health placements and this may cover the 40 hours theory and 20 pcactice(may be the other way around) needed in each area. Child nurses are harder and may need to do the 18 month conversion course from child to adult making sure they take a mental health placement in there somewhere, some people get through with less hours , it depends on the area you go to and how short they are on staff. Michelle.

relocating from UK to US.
Hi Cindy, that is great , do you have a degree or did you do the P2000 ? I was told that if you had a degree but worked in an emergency or acute setting you would get through without making up extra hours in other areas, do you know if this is true or not ? What is it like in TX have heard that it is not the best state to nurse in but we have our hearts set on living in TX , as far out in the sticks as we could go with our need for schools and the like, please tell me all about it ! Anyway if you earn double and the price of living is less we should have a great life as we will both be nurses. One last thing , are there many jobs around for ped nurses as my hubby wants to commit to ped onc, thanks for replying to my post Michelle.

Hi I think that I will steer clear of these people, thanks for that. How much time do you have to make up, I am taking the BN Hons in adult nursing so what time would I have to make up on child health and mental health, also to what level would I have to be trained in these areas? Shell

relocating from UK to US.
Thanks for replying, I will check this out very carefully. I thought this was slightly strange but assumed that there must be some way to get through , the woman was so sure and the company checked out okay with the checks that I did. How on earth do you get in to the US with a BN hons, do either of you know if you can carry on to take postgrad courses in mental health and child health or do you have to start at all over again, if that was the case you would be an RN in three fields , aswell as it all taking about nine years you would be better going to med school! Can either of you explain the system on which nurses are graded in the US and the pay scales and do you know anything about IL, also are British nurses accepted well over there , how are they regarded within the hospital enviroment? Thanks for your help with this and sorry to post one reply to both of you, I am not being rude I am just short of time. Thanks to both of you once again, Shelly.

relocating from UK to US.
Hi everyone just a quick word to let you know that Adevia Healthcare told me that you can be either adult or child trained but as long as you are in an acute or emergency setting you can relocate fairly easily, they provide a service at around £600 this secures you a job aswell, they are online! If anyone has relocated to illinois can you let me know please as this is where my hubby and I wish to go, thanks Shelly.
