your application will be destroyed but the nclex result... so you will need to file another... all they will do is to retrieve back your nclex result.....

"if you do not provide your ssn to the california board of registered nursing within three years from the date of notification that you passed your nclex, your application will be considered abandoned and your file will be destroyed."

each state will have their own requirements, some states will issue license without SSN CA will not and will delete file after 3 years if you have not given them a SSN but all you have to do is complete forms and pay fee.. You do not have to resit the NCLEX again.

This really should have been asked in the international forum and the OP should have done a search as this has been asked a few times on there.

They will not give you a license yet because you dont have an ssn. In that case, they will not forfeit your license because you don't have one in the first place. If in case you werent able to secure an ssn within 3 years, you need to apply to the BON again, but I don't think they will ask you to sit for NCLEX again.

For CALIFORNIA:

W/O the SSN you wont be holding your license. You passed NCLEX, YES, but you can not have the license.

In simple words...... NO SSN, NO LICENSE.

i was just wondering what other requirements are needed to obtain a SSN? aside from the NCLEX results of course.. thanks!!!

Actually it has nothing to do with NCLEX results at all, but the issue of having a visa that will permit you to work in the US. Meaning that you have gotten the green card and have entered the US to begin working. There is no other way to get a SSN# if you cannot work legally in the US.

It is strictly with immigration and nothing to do with licensure other than you need to have passed the NCLEX-RN or the CGFNS exam to get a Visa Screen Certificate to get a visa.

after 3 years if you have not given them a SSN but all you have to do is complete forms and pay fee..

My NCLEX will expire come January, and like what have been written here over and over I will just have to pay the fees... Just want to ask if I submit the application and pay the fees again, will they automatically know that I am the same person who applied years ago and have an existing application with them or do I have to call them and notify that I am the same person? Thanks in advance for answering my inquiry.

There have been new issues with CA and it seems that once your file has been destroyed it included NCLEX and you have to resit it again. Much has been talked about CA this year and suggest a search. The best thing would probably do as mentioned in the sticky California as initial licensure and go to a state that will issue a hard license like AZ but because you have a month left you are going to have some issues as most of the other states require CES which takes a few months to get so your file will be cancelled. You really need to contact CA BON about what is the best thing to do
