Hi! I just want to ask if there's anyone here who were able to get the machine readable passport here in the Philippines. I just received mine and my problem is that there's no space there for my signature. I know there's someone who were not able to sit for the test because she forgot to sign her passport. What do I do? I called the DFA and they said that there's really no space there for the signature. Pls advice. My exam is next month.

the reason why it has no signauture since its machine readable its all encoded in the special feauture of the passport including your fingerprints.

maybe you should try to contact pearson vue about this. let us know how things go ok. good luck.

I don't have any idea how it looks like but I have seen a machine readable passport from other Asian country and there is still an area where you're signature is printed.

There was an examinee who brought his new and old passport at the same time. The administrator asked him for any valid ID which contains his signature (because they do not consider an expired passport even if there is a signature there). They know that the new passport does not have a space for the signature so it is alright as long as you have your valid ID with you. (He was able to take the exam; good for him).

Another incident, a girl didn't bring her passport (she thought she didn't have to since the exam takes place here; she brought numerous forms of identification to no avail). She asked someone to get it from somewhere. Her place was very far from the testing site. She was not allowed to take the exam.

A reminder: They do not accept photocopies of ATT for verification. Bring your original copy with you (either the one delivered to you by mail or the one you downloaded). Once there and you don't have your original, they will ask you to have it downloaded and printed, then come back not later than 30 minutes after your scheduled exam. They are going to give it back anyway.

I hope this helps.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. I just finished talking to Pearson when I saw your message...and knowing that there's someone who has the same situation as mine who was able to take the exam is a big relief from me. Actually it made me worried this morning when I called Pearson (the toll free number in the Phil)..he gave me another number to call so I can talk to someone directly from Pearson. At first, he hold me in the line for awhile..and verified it first and after that he said that just go take the exam and bring my new passport. He even said "Goodluck".

Thanks again.

i would suggest to bring also a secondary identification card.

This is true. As what i think i mentioned, the administrator asked for a valid identification with a signature clearly shown on the surface to supplement the new passport (the brown one).

I suggest that pearsonvue be contacted immediately for them to issue these guidelines re machine readable passports(new Philippine passports).

agreed. people who have this problem is able to take advantage of the message on this thread. but just imagine the number of worried applicants who do not know what to do with a "signature-less" passport. the PV call center will be barraged by the same question over and over again.
