New in Texas!!! HELP

Im an RN in the Philippines but my hospital experience was a Nursing Aide in one of the Hospital in Singapore for 4 yrs. and be migrating to Texas USA next month. Any body can help me who knows a hospitals or Nursing home i can work in? My green card is still on process.

Can I just ask how you are getting your greencard? Would not recommend Nursing home to start with. Have you passed NCLEX etc?

Nope i havent passed any exam yet (CGFNS, NCLEX ...etc.) Planning as soon as i got there , im gonna take those. But for a while need to find any temporary job first. Through marriage thats why i got there in the US.

Sorry, but just to let you know that work will not be immediate for you. You are still going to need to go thru some things over here before you will be able to get the EAD and a SSN# that will let you work. It is not going to be immediate.

And unless you have already started the process with the requirements that you are going to need to have done before Texas will approved you, it is going to be months before you will be able to test. Texas requires that you have the CES completed by CGFNS before they will even look at your application. They will not grant their approval for you to test until you have submitted the CES. And that is going to take several months to get.

And without having that done, or having completed the CNA course for nursing assts, more than likely you will have issues gettinga nursing asst job. Most require a certification to be able to work in that role in the US.

Hospitals will not take you without some type of certification in most cases, and I definitely do not recommend a nursing home for you. Way too many patients.

I would definitely focus on passing the NCLEX exam while you are waiting for things to get done and until you have the documents to begin working legally. That is usually going to take several months, it is not going to happen immediately since you are being petitioned by a spouse/fiance. Different procedure than if you were petitioned as an RN by an employer.

Im just gonna do a self review for my NCLEX and dont know what are the procedures to do like applications and whom first do i have to contact to step by step while im in the US since i guess your right that i cannot start any job immediately.

you start here for the BON http://www.bne.state.tx.us/index.html and for CGFNS CES http://www.cgfns.org/ for the state BON you need to follow instructions for foreign trained

Also check out the NCLEX forum and Suzanne has a program you can follow but you need to follow instructions in the NCLEX forum

Please read the stickies at the top of this forum. You cannot apply directly to take the NCLEX exam. You must apply to a Board of Nursing for licensure as an RN. And I believe that you posted that you are wishing to work in Texas.

You are going to need to get a CES done by CGFNS. www.cgfns.org

That is required before Texas will grant you permission to sit for the NCLEX exam. We already posted the link to you for the Texas BON, you can get their application from that site. And you need the License by Examination application.

Why Don't You Apply Through Nebraska, I Think It Is Very Easy For Foreign Nurses To Apply Cause There Is A Minimal Requirement, All You Need Is Your School To Send Them Your Transcript. Then You Will Apply With Your Recent Pictures And You Are Done.

doesn't matter which BON you take NCLEX because you are foreign trained you will still have to meet state BON requirements when endorsing. Would be much easier just going with Texas BON if that is where you are going to be working.

Sorry, but if the nurse is not going to work there, then they have to go thru the License by Endorsement process. And that can take much time and money. If this poster is going to be working in Texas, he is not going to be able to get around the requirements of the state where he will be living.

You still need to take and pass the NCLEX exam. It is not just a simple process, there is much more to it than you even know about.
