nclex without cgfns for foreign nurses

hello everyone,

Is it possible to do nclex without cgfns.If so which nursing council can i apply & which one is more fast processeing & easier to pass.

what is the first step for this.

yes it is possible to do NCLEX without cgfns if you mean the exam, most BON's require you to go through cgfns for some report on evaluation although there are some BON's that do their own evaluation. For immigration everyone has to get a visa screen from cgfns/ICHP if they are doing it through their job if going through another route ie fiance you do not need visa screen. A lot depends on where you want to live

Florida does not require CGFNS to NCLEX. I know because i have done it. You do however need credential evaluation from CGFNS.

I'm planning to take the IELTS first then take the NCLEX this year.

I'm open to suggestions where to work and where to apply...any tips.

I'm thinking of New York. What do you think?

I would concentrate first on applying for eligibility to take the NCLEX above all as that takes time to process. Each State BON has it's own time-line so we can't say unless you decided already w/c State to live and work. You can do whatever you want during the wait period.

But you can do the IELTS at any stage depending on how you manage your time as long as you're aware that it has a 2 yr expiration.

Very few go to NY (unless that's the only State they want to work and live) because CVS for NY (CGFNS Service) took a long time before. No word, so far if still takes a long time.

NCLEX is a national exam, and it is not easier if you go thru one state or another. It also does not matter where you write the exam. It is a computerized exam, and the questions will be given to you based on how you answered the ones before.

There is no such thing as an NCLEX exam for a particular state. It is used by all states.

Suzanne, i failed NCLEX in Florida and want to find out if i can apply to another state as a re-taker without CGFNS. please advise.

Why would you want to go to another state to re sit the NCLEX? It is a national exam and makes no difference which state you apply. Would be better just to re sit with Florida as they will already have a file open if you go to another state you will have to start all over again

that is because i failed X 3 and now it is mandatory to do a refresher course, which i can't do at this time or in the near future. I am dependent on passing this inorder to get sponsor ship etc.
