How to apply for licensure in Texas

hi.. im new here at allnurses, i just want to know if ever i got a license in texas, can i use my license in california. Because my friend told me that she can use her california license anywhere in the states by applying for reciprocity, so i just want to know if i can do the same for my texas license if ever? thanks..

Please please have a read on here. Regarding license there is no thing as reciprocity you have to go through endorsement. With retrogression (and you are affected) you are looking at several years before moving to the US so much better to apply to the state you actually want to live in as even if you endorse you have to meet requirements for foreign nurse which may involve paying for something you did not do first time. Admittedly CA is not recommended for initial application for licensure but that is more to do with the fact you will have to wait atleast 4 weeks to get your results and will not get a license therefore no license to endorse as you will not get issued a license until in the US with a valid work permit

License for Texas will only be good for Texas. Suggest that you do some reading here, there are already multiple threads on getting licensed in Texas. Just do a search.

And suggest that you do not listen to your friends, we do not have reciprocity of licenses in the US. Only the NCLEX exam has reciprocity.

Since there are already multiple threads on getting licensed in Texas and its procedures, will close this thread. Please just do a search for the information that you need. We have a search engine here that can be used just like Google and Yahoo.

A licensure from one State BON can be endorsed from one State to another and you only have to apply for 'Licensure by Endorsement' instead of 'Licensure by Examination'. This is found and downloadable in every State BON's website. Instructions are there too. You of course have to do the requirements of the new State you wish to endorse to and each State BON will have it's own set of requirements and fees for endorsement.

You will also have to request your 1st State to send a verification of your license to the new State (w/ corresponding fees of course) or request it via NCSBN's nursys verification system if your original State BON is a member of that (not all are).

You will also notice that the term 'reciprocity' will never be mentioned on any of the instructions found for applications for endorsement.
