Help! Re-applying for NCLEX!

Hi. I am new to this thread. I passed the NCLEX in 2003, but decided to put the American dream aside and pursue medschool. Eventually I do not intend to completely abandon acquiring a U.S. license, but I have only until December to submit social security #. If the moment my application gets abandoned, can I just re-apply? And since California requires social security #, I was thinking of going thru other routes (like Vermont), if that's possible?

Oh no! How short is Vermont license valid for upon issuance? I wasn't aware of that (unfortunately)..... Although my main reason (for going this route) was not to get ahead, but clearly, I still made the wrong move.

Should this Vermont license reach the verge of expiration, what other options do I have? Would endorsement to other state help or not?

This is what I keep trying to tell everyone, you must do your homework on each state. You are not going to be any further ahead, but out the money that you have spent.

Less than one year, actually only about eight months or so, if I remember correctly. You will need a SSN# to renew it.

You would have been much further ahead to just submit another application to CA. Vermont license will not help you at all................not sure why you went that route.

All US states that do issue the RN license without a SSN#, require one for renewing the license. (There may be one that does not, but that would be only one, rules are always changing.)

Makes no sense to me to run around in circles when ultimately you want to work in CA, going thru the process in other states, since you have already goen thru it in CA, is insane.

allow me to correct that...

VT licenses are renewed on a fixed biennial schedule: march 31 of the odd years for RNs and january 1 of the even years for LPNs. thus, a RN in VT has until 31 march 2007 to apply for a renewal of his/her license, and once approved the license shall cover a two-year period.

Thank you for your response, Suzanne. But I NEVER said I wanted to work in California. I was after a state license that was flexible for endorsement to any state of my choosing. Thanks Dush for that clarification.

And there are quite a few that have had only months to renew their license, and without a SSN#, it will be impossible to do. That is the problem with the VT license. Fine if they are just applying now, but if they got it in the last six months or so, it will expire in March; not the two years from when they got the license.

Sorry about that. Again, there are quite a few on here that got their licenses in VT in the past six months or so, or even longer, and are still overseas, and the license will expire in March. It cannot be renewed without a SSN#. The length of time is dependent on when you get the VYT license.

And sorry about the CA thing. I may have you mixed up with someone else.

I am not in that ordeal yet, right? Since they haven't issued me a license yet. So if I get this correctly, should I put off having my board scores sent until after March? Um.. would really appreciate your input.

By the time that they process your application, you should be okay. But when did you write the exams in your country?

I wrote the NLE in June of 2003. Hope this helps.

what if you passed the NCLEX just this january, will it still expire this coming march? thanks..:)

Suzanne, I saw in the mail today, the actual approval letter from VT BON with enclosed confirmation card. It says on the card I have to return it to VT when I have registered with Pearson Vue. Can I just skip that part and proceed with having CA-BON forward my board scores to VT now? Or do I return the card and attach a letter explaning that I already passed the NCLEX (and my scores will come from California, not Pearson). Sorry, I am not sure what to do next.....
