Help! Re-applying for NCLEX!

Hi. I am new to this thread. I passed the NCLEX in 2003, but decided to put the American dream aside and pursue medschool. Eventually I do not intend to completely abandon acquiring a U.S. license, but I have only until December to submit social security #. If the moment my application gets abandoned, can I just re-apply? And since California requires social security #, I was thinking of going thru other routes (like Vermont), if that's possible?

Try to write to Ca BRN and request for extension by citing your situation. Tell them that you have no plans to abandon your application and request to retain your documents. Who knows, it may give you an extension. There is nothing wrong in trying.

It is also possible to take other routes but you better do that before it expires.

you are not re applying for NCLEX as you have passed that will always be the case, what you haven't got is you license and will just mean to re apply you won't loose the NCLEX

I guess you'd lose the application money you sent to Ca if your file is abandoned, but you can just apply to another state whenever you want (will have to get transcripts sent again, etc).

Sorry, but all you will need to do is submit another application to CA. You do not need to retest.

They do not grant extensions on the original application.

Thank you for the response. But I am just wondering.. Since CA requires social security #, and submitting another application to them might mean putting myself through the same ordeal again (stuck without the license), can I opt to submit a new application to Vermont this time? Since I kind of regret taking the CA route the first time.

Sorry I had no one else to turn to. I am submitting a new application, and have elected to go thru Vermont (for reason stated on my previous post). Can anyone please help? Is my application still going to be licensure by examination? Which agency has my nclex board score (is it California board or pearson vue)? I am a little unsure who to write to for board scores should I receive another ATT for submitting a new application.

You must go thru the License by Examination process, as you do not have a license that has been issued to you. CA will send verification to Vermont of your passing score, but you cannot use the Endorsement application.

Just to make a follow up to an earlier post, Suzanne4. Vermont just approved my application (by licensure). But I am a little unsure about asking for board scores (from California to Vermont). Do I just ask California to send a copy of my test result to Vermont? No explanation required? And aren't these state boards used to receiving NCLEX results from Pearson (not from another state)? Just a thought.

Not sure that you are aware that Vermont will issue you a license number, but that license actually needs to be renewed in a short time, and you will need to have a SSN# to do that. You should have just stuck with CA.

Results are only sent by Pearson-Vue to the state that you applied to, it is not sent later on to other boards.

Sorry to hear that you went the route that you did as you will not be any further ahead, you are not going to have a SSN# by the time that the Vermont license expires.

This is what I keep trying to tell everyone, you must do your homework on each state. You are not going to be any further ahead, but out the money that you have spent.

Less than one year, actually only about eight months or so, if I remember correctly. You will need a SSN# to renew it.

You would have been much further ahead to just submit another application to CA. Vermont license will not help you at all................not sure why you went that route.

All US states that do issue the RN license without a SSN#, require one for renewing the license. (There may be one that does not, but that would be only one, rules are always changing.)

Makes no sense to me to run around in circles when ultimately you want to work in CA, going thru the process in other states, since you have already goen thru it in CA, is insane.
