Thank you!

I have just had the results of the State Exam (NZ) I passed!! :nurse:

I am off to Starship (kids' hospital) later next month. It's so exciting and scary...I can't wait :roll

Do you have particular placements in the hospital? Or do you stay on one ward for a year. How does it work in NZ?

Hi Tina,

Hi nyapa; sorry I just saw your question! :redpinkhe

Where I'm going, we have one 10-month placement. That suits me just fine...I take awhile to settle in and really feel like I 'know' an area.

Other hospitals here give their new grads two 6-month placements.

Only 4 days to go til I start now...feeling a bit nervous but excited as well

Times ticking ppl, you'll be there before you know it...

I had orientation last week, just listened to talks on workplace bullying ect...so it was a long week LOL

I had 1 day of orientation onto the ward on a ward I will not be working on :icon_roll

I have 1 day of orientation onto the ward tommorrow and then I am going to be working as an RN

I am meant to be working the same shifts as my preceptor for the first 2 weeks, but will have my own patient load

We do three rotations of 4 months each.

There are 2 hospitals that work as 1 more or less. First I go to the less acute hospital, then the next two rotations are at the acute hospital

First

The ward I was to be working on has not opened yet. So I am being put onto a ward that was closed over christmas, and is to be reopened tommorrow. I have no idea what type of pts I will be having there.....I know it is a 'non-acute' hospital, so I guess it is mainly elderly people waiting for nursing homes or that type of thing....

Second

I am going to Paeds :w00t:

Third

Medical ward in the acute hospital :redpinkhe I did my last 5 week placement on this ward and just loved it there!!
