I need some info on what protocol there is out there for activity levels for patients on Intergrillin gtts. I work on a Tele unit with the ususal cardiac patients and we have gotten a new Doc who wants his post-stent patient on Intergrillin to be up and ambulating. We have no protol on this and up to this point have kept these patients on bed rest with a fem-stop in place. I have gotten the honors of doing the research to develop a protcol. Does anyone have a protocol in place or knowledge of what the research shows? Please let me know.
Thanks:balloons:

We do not limit activity for people on integrillin gtts. We do not have a specific protocol, but we have an integrillin order set that outlines the care. Only limitations are no iv sticks.

i would think the activity level for the pt should be based on the reason for the gtt. if the pt is fresh post procedure on their 18 hrs of integ., then clearly they must complete bedrest and advance activity as tolerated once hemostasis is achieved.
if they are on integrillin pre cath as an ACS admit, you should not be ambluating them anyway.
but if they are post cath, have hemostasis and bedrest complete, no bleeding or pain control issues, no arrhythmia issues and are just finishing integrillin and fluid orders, it is appropriate to advance activity to ambulating as tolerated.
