Patients Say the Darnedest Things - WIN $250! Nurses Week Contest 2018
One evening I was checking the pulses & groin site on an elderly gentleman post heart cath, when he asked me if I had every roller-skated. I replied that I had in my youth. Then he turned to his friend & said "Won't she would make a great addition to our women's roller derby team". Then proceeded to inquired if I would care to try out for the team. I politely declined his generous offer, thinking it was some kind of joke. The next week there was a post in the local paper with a picture of the two gentlemen & their derby team.

ECG interpretation
To have 2nd degree HB your atrial & ventricular rate would be different, atrial greater than ventricular rate. More P's than QRS's. Type 1 remember longer, longer, dropped is Wenkebach. Type 2 PR interval is consistent with each P that has a QRS. PR can be normal or prolonged length, 0.12 or more. It's just a dropped beat. Resp cause, could be called a if you want a name Sinus Arrhythmia. Treatment only needed if patient is symptomatic.

TAVR
The hospital I work in will start the TAVR procedure at the end of the month. We haven't had any training yet & it worries me. I've done a lot of research on the procedure & haven't found much out. Then there's the fact my dad is scheduled to have a TAVR placed in SLC end of April. At least they've done quite a few there. Hope all goes well. If anyone has any info pass it my way please. Thanks.

Code rolee
I found the best way to learn from a code is to be the recorder. No one will try to push you out of the room, you get to see everything, be involved & just plain observe what's happening.

Intergrillin Gtts & activity levels
I need some info on what protocol there is out there for activity levels for patients on Intergrillin gtts. I work on a Tele unit with the ususal cardiac patients and we have gotten a new Doc who wants his post-stent patient on Intergrillin to be up and ambulating. We have no protol on this and up to this point have kept these patients on bed rest with a fem-stop in place. I have gotten the honors of doing the research to develop a protcol. Does anyone have a protocol in place or knowledge of what the research shows? Please let me know. Thanks:balloons:

Transporting Telemetry Patients off the unit
What is done where I work is if the patient's rhythm is stable, they may go in-house unmonitored, per policy. If they need to go out of the building for a test(ex.MRI) you need an order to send them without a ACLS RN
