A huge number of nurses and doctors are non-native speakers, so don't despair! Do you live in an English-speaking area? Practice will help you become more fluent. Maybe try some English as a Second Language (ESL) classes either before or while you take some introductory classes.
Don't give up :-)

I would find a local community college or university, that offers a nursing program and meet with the admissions people. They would be able to tell you what sorts of classes you need to take. Don't give up and good luck!

Definitely take ESL classes and take college reading and writing classes so you can improve you reading and writing skills to the college level. You need to get your reading comprehension at a high level so that you will be successful with exams and the board exam.

I agree with the previous posts. Start by going to your local community college and register for basic ESL (English as Second Language) classes to boost your confidence and knowledge of the language. For success in nursing school, you must have a good understanding of the English language. There is absolutely no way to get around it. You must have good writing, reading, and comprehension skills. I live in Northern NJ and had classmates from many nationalities. The ones that did best had a firm understanding of the English language. Some students were not successful or had a very difficult time because of the language barrier. Best of luck to you!! :)

My friend's native language is Hungarian. When he came to this country he studied English and worked as a construction worker until he was comfortable enough with the language to take his medical boards. He's now a physician in this country as well as Hungary. So it's doable.

It IS doable, go to your local CC and sign up. If you pass the TOEFL test, you will be able to sign up for the pre-nursing classes (English comp, Literature, psych, nutrition, A&P 1, bio,etc...) With every class, you will feel more and more confident as you go. Mastering a second language has a lot to do with your "listening skills" and your confidence level, a good attitude will definitely take you there. If not, you will benefit from ESOL classes. Take your first step! :-)
It really is doable, I am doing it! :-)

Take ESOL. (English as a second language)
You sound very intelligent and I find that most who attempt do well--especially you already have a grasp of another language.
Please give it a try.
Just DON'T GIVE UP.
Thank you guys for the jolly encouragement!
