If that is your desire, spend a full year on a Med Surg floor as a new grad. You will see so many interesting things, plus learn how to organize your time practicing nursing.

If you do have an endocrinology unit, that would enhance your experience. I'd also recommend attending and completing as many diabetes-related conferences and CEU programs as possible. Then keep watching for openings. If your unit is looking for a diabetes champion for the unit, volunteer. Good luck! We can always use another good diabetes educator. However, jobs are few and far between because diabetes education is not a money-maker for an organization. But...it is a money saver and an investment in future health.
my next ? is where can I find info (web sites etc) with info on the increase of type II diabetes in children. This really intrigues me!!
