Anyone out there have any instructors that need to take a chill pill or some Prozac or Estrogen before clinicals? :coollook:

Oh definitely! My clinical group has joked that we should be given blow darts loaded with Prozac to shoot at uptight clincal instructors who are over-the-top uptight.

Hasn't happened too much but it does happen. I can understand their uptight-ness cos they're in charge of 8 students working off of their rn license.

That's an excellent point, suzy253. If I had that many people using my license I'd be nit-picky too. Besides, their aim is to see the students learn, not just to kill a few hours in a hospital setting.

I can understand instuctors being nit-picky/tough/demanding perfection but I had an OB instructor who yelled at me for 10 min outside the nursery for "talking to the doctors" - all I did was introduce myself to a Dr who I had spoken with many times on the phone and was a friend of my boss. I was called a liar, and almost got dropped. I was so terrified to do anything at the time - it was our first semester - so I didn't. Now I wish I had. She was psycho in class too..... boy was I ever happy to get done with that course.

I have been truly blessed in that every one of my clinical instructors thus far has been wonderful (I've had 5). Patient, understanding, honest, open, constructively critical, and compassionate, both toward the patients AND the students. They all possessed the "I remember what it was like" attitude, which I think is what made the difference.

I do believe that's the funniest thing I've read here on this site. Thanks for the laugh. :rotfl:
