Information Literacy

Published

So just passed microbiolgy / ECE with an A today. Have Information Literacy and A & P left as far as prereqs. Read somewhere on here that people had taken the IL class somewhere else and transferred in the credit. Has anyone done that? can you share?

Thanks!!

I also have info lit and a&p to take. I am studying for micro right now. How long did u spend on it and what did u use? Was the exam easy? I was just gonna do info lit through excelsior.

People used to take info lit at Penn Foster, however even though ACE approved the class is no longer accepted for transfer credit at Excelsior as of 1/1/2013.

Right now the only option is the info lit class at EC

JustBeachyNurse is correct. I was allowed to transfer my Info Lit from Penn Foster to Excelsior College (EC) but they are no longer accepting Penn Foster as a transfer from students. I think it's because so many students was doing it in order to save money because the course was only $70 or $80 at Penn Foster where it is $355 (I think) at EC.

I would look around to see if it can be done at another school, then call or email EC student records department and see if they will accept it from whatever school you find (if it is cheaper than EC).... as long as the school is accredited I don't see why EC wouldn't accept (like Penn Foster) unless they want the money.

I studied for about 2 months. I took excelsior outline and then just created my own off of that. I also bought an outside study guide but this didn't help much. Also, did practice exams and spent a lot of time reviewing those. Pay attention to the percentages they have as far as content for example if it says 25% of exam is on one section and 15% on another make sure you focus your time accordingly. Its 130 questions. I think this and A & P are the hardest tests. .....in my opinion.

that stinks about Penn Foster. Looking to save money wherever I can. Thanks for letting me know though.

Very few schools offer the course as a stand alone. Most have major courses that fulfill the requirement such as my undergrad major 'Research Methods' class (non nursing) met the requirement for the school I attended but not if I transferred.
