Any one attending or apply to Columbia State?

Volunteer,

I believe there were some students that got accepted into the program for fall semester that had B's in A&P. Your bachelors should be a plus as well.:wink2:

It is so confusing to hear so many different stories about acceptance into any program. As many that apply, I can't believe that there are that many that did not make an A in A&P I. I would have assumed that there were at least 40 (the amount of students allowed at each campus) that received an A. From there I have been told that they look at your ACT score. They only use your GPA as a tie breaker. Mine (16 years ago) was a 19 which is the minimum. I am taking the ACT in September hoping to up it to at least a 24. I really want a 26. My plans are to apply for Fall 09.

Well anyway, good luck to all that are applying!

Chscruggs- Thanks!! I did talk to a girl in one of my courses that got in with a B in A&P. I got a 28 on my ACT in 2000... but I don't think I have to submit it since I have a bachelors. I'm just ready to know, ya know?

Good luck everyone!!:heartbeat

Have any of you heard of anyone getting in with a 19 on ACT and an A in A&P I?

TNMommy-

I did have a girl in one of my classes tell me that she got a B in A&P1 and has a 20 on her ACT.

Sometimes I think it's like they put all the apps in a stack and randomly selected 40. :nurse: ?

Oops somehow I posted twice, so i got rid of it!

Oh Boy! Has anyone seen the paper today? There is an article about the failure rate at Col. State. Take a looksee. I think this might me good for me. It might make them shape up before I apply. Here's the article http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008808010409

Well, that seems pretty accurate from what I've heard around campus. My sister is in a nursing program (not CSCC) and a lot of her class failed out of med-surg. I know it's hard, but some professors can be unnecessarily hard!! They should help the nurses-to-be, not hinder them from obtaining their goals! I'm not saying information should be spoonfed, but come on people! Tests need to accurately represent the information that is presented in a course, or else the test is not considered reliable or accurate. Tests need to be tested for accuracy and reliability before they are given to a class. That's why they are called TESTS. They need to be STANDARDIZED across both campuses. UH! :typing

I go to CSCC nursing and am very afraid after what I have read. I have not had a bad experience there. I will have to say that I came in to the program with a 4.0 GPA, now I am a C student. What is going to happen to me durrring Nursing III? Maybe after all this bad press things will improve. Still, I am thinking that transfering to another program might be prudent.

How is Motlow State? Is there anybody in their program?

AAATS,

At least now you know so you can be prepared for Nursing III! I'm sure you will do well know that you know the expect a difficult time. You can get a jump on it from the get-go.

I'm scared now! I probably wont get in for the spring :( I did hear it's easier to get in during the spring, though, since they have less applications. I have not heard about Motlow, but I was wondering the same thing since they have a branch in the Smyrna area. I think when I looked at the program I noticed that they only admit in the fall.

Here is the link to Motlow state. They appear to have their stuff together... http://www.mscc.edu/nursing/index.html

You know, the thing is that alot of programs have their problems. I've heard the rumor that TSU is about to lose their credidation, Cumberland Univ. has been on probation before, and now Columbia State has this problem. I think that they all need some changes in their programs. The only program that I know of that has had no bad press or probations (although there could be more) is Belmont. The only thing is that Belmont is just too expensive.

Bottom line is, if your fortunate enough to get into a program, you better just work your butt off and be prepared for a couple of years of very hard work. I don't know about anyone else on this post, but I am a believer in Jesus, and I know that He has a plan for me. With Him, I will be in a program, and I will succeed! I am not afraid or worried because when I take a test, it is not just me taking the test, but God and me. I wish all of you the best of luck and may God bless your lives.
