Hope2day 5 Posts Jun 5, 2008 Hello,I am currently enrolled at the Franklin campus and believe me, I would not recommend this school to anyone. The turnover is very high with instructors and with the Director of the nursing program. One just resigned. In the 3rd semester, a lot of students fail and there are some issues and/or lawsuits concerning this. The teachers are not friendly and do not appear to enjoy teaching, but appears to love to humiliate and intimidate students. If you are going to go to this school, just know before hand, that you are in for a very long and rigorous time. I am not trying to sound negative, but am telling you beforehand. I didn't do my research and know firsthand how horrible this program is.

TN Student 22 Posts Jun 8, 2008 I was wanting to comment on the part about actually getting into the Nursing program at Columbia State. I was just accepted for Fall 2008 for the Franklin campus with an A in AP1 and 23 on the ACT.The bare bones minimum is a C in AP1 and at least a 19 on the ACT. However, with an average of 400 students applying for admission (information from the school), it is very competitive. A friend of mine who was not accepted last semester had a B in AP1 and a 23 on the ACT. She was accepted for this fall though. Yay!! I have only heard good things about the staff of teachers who run the program, but we shall see come fall. To those applying for CoSCC, Good Luck! Don't be scared or give up if you're not in on the first try. Josh
TN Student 22 Posts Jun 8, 2008 One other thing I will point out about the CoSCC Nursing program is they have a 97% passing rate for NCLEX on the first time. I'm sure the teachers are hard--it's for a reason. Nursing isn't for whimps!
TN Student 22 Posts Jun 8, 2008 TN Mommy--They will only allow you to use your previous ACT score if you have a bachelors degree, they will not accept an associates degree. I thought the same thing you were saying, so I called and they corrected me, so I had to take it again.Tip--go to the library and check out books on the ACT--it helped me a good bit.

Nursing isn't for whimps!Nursing isn't for whimps, you are correct, and I am not a whimp and neither is over 50% of the people who failed in the class. I was speaking on how the instructors are. No credible profession is for whimps.
TN Student 22 Posts Jun 9, 2008 I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like I was calling anyone a whimp.
Hope2day 5 Posts Jun 10, 2008 It's okay, I don't mean to sound so abrupt, but I am just speaking about the instructors, this program can be done, and I encourage you to pursue nursing because the reward will outweigh all of the drama once you finish. if i can answer any questions, please feel free to ask.thanks

I'm taking Microbiology this summer and there are quite a few nursing students in class with me that just finished the 1st semester of Nursing at CoSCC. They all have wonderful things to say about the nursing instructors and the program. They did say that the final was very hard and a lot of people had a hard time, but they said if you just keep up with reading everyday and just focus on the classes that you can pass. I guess, life beyond school has to be put on hold. Which is ok by me.
Volunteer 16 Posts Jul 25, 2008 Hi! I'm glad to see some new information about the program. I am applying for Spring 2009. I am so scared! I have a BA and completed my science prereqs at CSCC last spring. Just A&P 2 to go. I was so mad that I ended up with an 89.7 in A&P1 and my teacher did not round up. UH. If I don't get in because of that stupid B I am going to be so mad!!!! :argue:
