I have an interview at Pitt County later this month and was wondering about the area. From what I've read online its nice, but I wanted to hear from people who actually live there. I have no idea how the interviews will go as I will be traveling from KY for them. From what I've read about the hospital system it sounds really nice as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
How big of a place are you looking for, and do you care how long of a drive it is? Do you care if there are rowdy college students having a kegger two doors down at 2am?
We would love at the very least a 2BR, but would prefer a 3BR. I'm considering somewhere in the 30 mile radius as I don't mind a commute, but anything over an hour and bleh....LOL. Definately no rowdy college students, especially ones who like keggers, didn't like them when I was younger as I definately like my sleep now. Though I'm working nights, so they should all be passed out by the time I get home anyway
I am thinking of the areas around Greenville like Winterville, Ayden, Chocowinty, etc..... We found a home for sale in Greene County right off Stantonsburg Rd (supposedly) with land for around $69,000. But, again I think renting would be ideal IF we can find places that will accept both our pets.
I think I mentioned it to you before, but we lived in Farmville. We loved it there. Small quaint town, wainright properties has some townhomes for rent there (I think it's $600/mo), walking distance to several places from them (small grocery store, post office, eye office, doctor office, town hall).
Ayden is also a nice town that's fairly cheap (compared to Greenville).
Both Farmville and Ayden make it easy to get to the hospital because they're on a direct route (264 and Hwy 11).
I live near Vanceboro, less than 12 miles from the Pitt county line. It's about a 30 to 35minute commute to PCMH, 20 to Beaufort Memorial and 15 minutes to Craven Regional. I like being out in the country, low taxes, great neighbors who can grow the best vegetables and plenty of space.
Vanceboro is a nice area too. I can't wait to get back out there and go to Yoder's (or whatever they'll call it now- Dutch Oven?). I'm about to start drooling...worth the drive.
Yoders is an Amish eatery with a small store attached where home made goods direct from Amish country in Pa are sold. It's about 10 miles from my house. I have not been there recently . They have also opened a restaurant in the heart of the old section of New Bern. It serves breakfast and lunch.
