info about becoming and being a navy nurse

Hi.

i have a few questions on the process of becoming a navy nurse.

My sister graduated last year May 2010 and got her RN license November 2010.

However, after applying to several new grad programs, she hasn't been able to get a position.

So my mom had suggested joining the navy. Are there marine RN positions?

Anyways, here are my questions:

if my sister is already has a BSN and an RN license, what steps would she take to join the military?

Would my sister be based out of the country?

are positions hospital based? or is leaving the country a MANDATORY requirement when working in the military?

if she plans to stay the # of required years of being active, what does that mean? where would she work?

Theoretically, she could be stationed anywhere the Navy goes. However, the military, like the civilian world, has an abundance of RN applicants and few open slots, so RNs with experience are getting more of those slots than the new grads. If it is her desire to serve, a Navy healthcare recruiter could better answer these questions -- that should be who she contacts.

These questions - and many more you haven't mentioned - are also locate within this forum in other postings. To get a better picture I'd let your sister take some time to sit down and search/read. Then I would recommend her evaluating what she knows, things, wants to know - and see if she'd then be interested in talking with a healthcare recruiter.

All of the questions / answers are here , the recruiter is where you go after to start the process and get some brochures (which usually same info as online navy recruiting website...). You can also google navy nursing and look for some powerpoints...
