moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html
we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

RIversideCA-LVN,
where are u completing your clinicals? do u know if there is any way at all that we can take more than 1 clinical per semester? what if we found our own preceptor? I just got accepted for the Fall 2010. I just realized that it will take me 3 years if i just do one clinical per semester. That's waaay tooo long!!
students in california are limited to 1 clinical course per semester by california not isu...see near the end of the document at http://www.indstate.edu/nursing/stud...tance-info.htm
Hi,
I just got done with my LVN school and I would really like to continue my track to BSN. I am interested in going to ISU, but I have been hearing a lot of negative feedback on other forums about ISU.
1. I just have a couple of questions for a student who is currently attending ISU. Have any of you gone through TCN, if so how do you feel about it?
2. Do I have to find a clinical site and a preceptor?
3. How do you feel about the whole experience?
Thank you in advance for the feedback.

What kind of negative feedback?
I am so glad that I found you! Is it ok if I have your email so that we can keep in contact? I am currently in Los Angeles and would like to keep in contact with students who are in the program in my area! I am applying for the fall 2010 program
Thank you for all of the info on ISU. I am beginning the process in Jan 2011, but look forward to it. Do you get an ISU ID after they look at all of your transcripts? I am still waiting for my other schools to get my transcripts sent over. There is financial aid, right? I am really concerned about the costs. I am also new to this site, so thanks for all of your input. DW
Anyone in Washington (Tacoma/Seattle area) going to ISU online for their LPN-BSN? I would like to compare notes about this program and if they have gone to Swedish Hospital yet for clinicals? DW
You can see what agencies already have a contract (agency shouldn't have been used if no contract) by searching at http://www.indstate.edu/nhhs/contracts/agencylist.asp#current-contracts or looking at the complete list at http://www.indstate.edu/nhhs/contracts/agencylist-complete.asp

Information about scholarships linked from the left menu on the page at http://www.indstate.edu/nursing/financial/finances.htm
That might help!
I have a question about clinical sites. I put in a call to ISU about this but wanted to hear from those who went thru the process. I am trying to get my hospital on the list of sites. They called the other 2 sites listed in CT, and both places have NO idea what we are talking about. They claim they are not sites, nor have never been sites. My hospital then started a dialogue with one of the other sites and was told it was too much of a liability because the preceptor had to stay with the student the entire 8 hours. So the question became who would pay for the nurse "babysitting" the student since we didnt have licenses? When I bought up the point I would have a LPN license, it fell on deaf ears and was countered with "the nurse could not do their duties because of the babysitting of the LPN students." They have done this in the past for schools such as Univ of Phoenix, but they were doing the RN to BSN program so they felt okay with it being independent. I need to hear from those with experience in this and find what "exactly" is expected from the preceptors and if this can be communicated effectively to these clincal sites. There is really not a lot on the web site, it sounds like it is like the preceptor is teaching even tho I know this is not the case, the clinical sites are seeing it this way. There are only a few Hospitals in CT, and the three major ones are seeing this as a problem. Other than that, they all seemed REALLY pleased about it being a brick and mortar school that was regionally accredited. (Everyone seems to be afraid of distance learning.??) Please help!

Anybody know how much those binders cost? I would just try to study on my own but I usually need some help so I might as well go ahead and get them. Thanks!
