Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
Wow this makes me rethink ISU for my self....I'm not good at research papers I dont even know what a APA format reference page.....
They do teach you how to do this stuff but really, I mean, this *is* college, yk? Just because it's distance or because it's nursing doesn't mean you don't have to do college work. What about when you go to grad school? Do you really *want* to get your degree at a school that doesn't make you do college level work? ISU is *not* the easy way to get a quick degree.

I know it is college but figured if we are testing out of the generals( where you do most of the writing and research) I figured that the phse III part would have been sort of like how LVN school was were you are learing just nursing related material and so forth.......
I'm thinking it may be better for me personally to take some of the generals at the local CC so I'm a little more prepared for ISU. I have been to two technical colleges and recieved certificates, but have never attended an actual college. I want to be prepared for ISU, I'm not looking for a degree to be handed to me by any means.

OIC. It's because it's a bachelor level program so that kind of thing is required and expected just like other majors. It's still all nursing related though. For example, my psych nursing paper is on eating disorders, my nursing research paper is on the effects of pre-op antibiotics on wound infection, and for transition to BSN we pick our (nursing related) topic so I chose ECT since I just saw a few of them in clinicals and found the science of it really interesting.

It might be a good idea to maybe take at least an upper level writing course at a CC just so you are comfortable with writing and with the research process and all that.
Hi Chaxanmom!Thank you for answering so many questions. Even though they weren't asked by me, I too was wondering the same things!
Also, would you happen to know when the phase 2-3 classes are offered? Are they offered both spring/fall or one or the other?
Thank You
Phase 2 are testouts so you do those whenever. No idea when each of classes are offered though. Check with ISU for their class schedule.

Thats what I was thinking. That way they will prepare me. I can alway take the list of classes that ISU required to the local CC and see if they have equivalent classes and take them at cc. If ISU does not accept them I can still test out for the ones that ISU needs. I know this will be a long way to do them but I think it will prepare me alot more.

The transition LPN to BSN class does help you get used to doing research online, with getting used to APA format, etc so that's something to keep in mind as well. :)
