Ivy Tech Spring '10 Applicants

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

Well most likely the Xerox's is what got her in trouble. Again, back to the unclear directions. All it says it 'copies of official' but it doesn't explain that a copy of an official is still from a registrar, not just copied on a good old machine in the library or at Kinko's. I'm sorry for your friend that she didn't get in for such a stupid technicality that could be avoided if Ivy wrote their instructions better. But you're right, we are getting an ASN or LPN for a bargain!

Love reading these posts! I'm really like a kid on Christmas when I see that there are new posts to read! lol!

Kara, your 208 score sounds great!---You could always try to re-take the TEAS if you think you can score higher, but it doesn't sound like you really need to.

I feel so bad for someone not getting in b/c of transcript issues (Sunny, I know you can relate b/c of your Evansville problem). I attached my original IU transcript and the registrar's copy of my Ivy transcript and I guess that was enough....I never had my official transcript sent to the registrar, but apparently it didn't matter. Application instructions were definitely unclear in that department, unfortunately.

As for the requirements prior to orientation, I'm not really sure??? (My envelope only had one sheet of paper as well) Maybe when you e-mail or call them with your acceptance, they will e-mail instructions or mail a new package of paperwork or something. Otherwise, I would assume that we don't need to have anything done prior to orientation. If anyone finds out anything differently, please post!!

Wow this is so exciting reading through all the posts...even though I'm not applying until next year!

Good luck and congrats to EVERYONE.

Hopefully me and KGLE will be in next fall! KGLE I think 208 sounds great and if you took the TEAS with no studying and got an 85 then you will definitely bump up score the next time!!

Annie, I think that now that you are accepted, you should definitely order a new official transcript from IU to be sent to the Indpls. Registrar so that you can officially get credit for your transfer classes. I'm betting it has to be done sometime before graduation but it couldn't hurt to get it done as soon as possible! Did you know you also have to have a transcript sent from your high school? I think that is a state requirement for nursing programs.

I think I will go get a flu shot tomorrow. I'm betting they will stress that we get it (and probably H1N1 when available). Not trying to start a debate at all--I know not everyone agrees about flu shots in general, much less the new H1N1. I've gotten a flu shot the past two years (never had before that) and have had my kids get them (or the mist) for the past 5-6 yrs. H1N1 is in our school system but I don't know what schools specifically.

Hi everyone. I thought I might be able to help with all the stuff that needs done before your classes start. My girlfriend got in this last semester. She told me that once she accepted the invite. The nursing department emailed her with the stuff that she had to have done before classes, and the dates they had to be done by. This was for Fort Wayne, but I believe it is the same for all Ivy Tech schools. I just thought I would let everyone know, and hopefully it helps with some of the ques. I am still waiting impatently for my letter. I have a feeling I did not get in, but I hope I am wrong. I could of had higher points, but we'll see. Congratulations to everyone that got in!!!

Kgle, I got in to Indy with a 207, but I have heard that it is less competitive in the spring versus the fall.

Csab, I forgive you for leaving me off the list, hahahaha. By the way my name is Colleena. I am going tomorrow to get started on some vaccines, just to make sure I have plenty of time.

Which vaccines? And where are you going? I don't have health insurance so I have no clue where to go.

Csab--Thanks for the suggestion about the transcript. I will definitely get that done! I didn't know we needed our high school transcript too....That's so strange. You'd think that a 4-year Bachelors degree would negate the need for a high school transcript! lol! Well, I will not cease to be amazed with all of the things that I'm sure we'll encounter in this program!

I can't wait to hear from those of you who are still waiting to get your letters--I'm sure you'll all do just fine!! Please be sure to post and let us know!

I sent my acceptance e-mail last night, so hopefully I'll get an e-mail soon with instructions of some sort!

I asked what number I was on the alternate list and they wouldn't tell me...annoying! I don't see why it would be a problem!

Sunny, sorry they wouldn't tell you! That must be an Indy campus thing because I know people in the past came on here and said they were number such-and-such on the list.

Just sent my email to confirm my acceptance.

csab,

I looked up the NSG courses listed on Ivy's website...fun to be looking to see what the possibilities of our classes might be. Clinical sites for NSG105 are listed as well. I wander if we have any input in which side of town for clinical site each semester or if they just assign us a hospital site. Anyone know how this is done for Indy campus?
