Ivy Tech Spring '10 Applicants

Published

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

Honestly, I was surprised to find the one letter, too. I didn't open it right away because I just assumed it was a rejection letter. That's all I got, though, and the envelope was well-sealed.

Thanks Catherine. That eases my mind!

How about IUvbKatie? Any word? 2bsy2slp? Did you get it today after all?

I'm starting to wonder if rejection letters were sent out after the acceptance letters.

I have a friend who got a rejection letter today from Indy. I think you are just having bad mail luck, hang in there!

Kim, that stinks for your friend!

Especially since her score was above mine! I think it is going to boil down to a transcript problem.... She only attached photocopies of her original coursework.

Photocopies of what? As in, Xerox? I think that what REALLY needs to happen is that they need to rewrite their application instructions and be CLEAR on what they will and won't accept. It currently says they will accept copies of official transcripts from other colleges and that you can request such copies from the registrar, providing you have had your official transcript(s) sent to Ivy Tech. But, when I asked for said copies of my official submitted transcripts, I was told they can't give out copies of other colleges' transcripts. . . :smackingf Which is why I ended up having new official transcripts sent directly to ME from my previous colleges, and I included them with my application.

But they really really need to revise their application and instructions so that everyone is on the same page. The registrar office would not give me an official Ivy Tech transcript because they said an Unofficial that had the seal/signature on the bottom was okay (and free), and I took it up to the nursing office to show them and make sure it was acceptable.

Congrats to everyone who got in at Indy!

Has anyone heard from Terre Haute yet?

Csab, nope no word yet! I literally began to cry today, when I looked in my mail box and saw nothing from Ivy Tech. I'm trying to hold on, but its getting hard. I just hope i find out something before I start to lose my mind. I did also apply for the LPN program as well. I'm hoping though that I am able to get into the ASN program. i just have to wait and see...keeping my fingers crossed and keeping a prayer on my lips! I do want you all to know that I am really proud and excited for each one of you for gettting into the program!!

Congrats ladies!!! I am super excited for all of you! Just remember, we expect a full report of expectations (before starting the program) and what to expect for nursing school!

Would anyone mind posting scores? Right now, if I don't retake the TEAS and get an A in this 102 class I will have a 208 for Indy. I will probably retake TEAS though.

Thanks Kara! I think if you retook the teas you could probably bump it up a few points, can't hurt to try! I think that now you have to make appts. to take the teas at Lawrence.

Editing to add--not trying to say you would have to retake the teas--I know that they said the historical average at Indy for the teas has been an 87 for people that got in (not including this current pool of applicants). So if 87 is an average, then there have to be a significant number that are below that.

Awesome, I will retake it then :) I know I need to study for that darn science section! I got an 85 the first time no studying, so I will be retaking around the beginning of the year!

Yes, the original transcript was copied, as in Xerox.

I am with you, the directions desperately need a rewrite! They should make it clear to attach original transcripts from colleges that we are transferring credits from and that those credits have to be accepted by the registrars office. It is too vague as currently written (depending on the source).

While I understand why Ivy would put Unofficial (for inner school, free of cost) Vs Official (for other schools that we have to purchase), it is unclear what they really need. Again, more clarification.

Even with its idiosyncrasies, I love Ivy! It's an education at an affordable price, :) Sometimes you just have to C.Y.A.
