Inappropriate touching

Nurses Relations

Is it normal for older male patients to try to touch a nurse. My gf comes home just about everyday telling me how a patient grabbed her butt like it's normal

Is it "normal"? No. Are the "older" male clients in question possibly demented or otherwise impaired? It's not uncommon for people with dementia, delirium, intellectual disability, disabling chronic mental illness, etc., to be somewhat disinhibited and engage in behaviors that would not ordinarily be considered acceptable. But, if that's the case and what they're doing isn't actually dangerous, you just deal with it and keep going. There's no point in getting angry or reasoning with or penalizing someone who doesn't realize that what s/he is doing is unacceptable. If it is someone who is cognitively intact and is just being a jerk, that's different.

Is this the same girlfriend that you posted about three years ago who you said wore see through scrubs showing her thongs when she went to work? The same girlfriend who you wrote had "gotten attention" from frisky old men at work? Has this been an ongoing discussion between the two of you for three years? I find this odd.

I'm not sure what you mean when you ask if it's "normal" behavior? No, of course it's not normal behavior to grab a relative stranger's behind. I would think that every adult knows that. It's illegal. People who commit crimes exist in society, sometimes these people get sick and hospitalized. Also, just as elkpark wrote, with certain disease processes patients might be more prone to inappropriate behavior, so depending on the patient population where your girlfriend works it might happen fairly regularly that patients behave this way. Due to their disease they may have poor impulse control and may not be aware that what they're doing isn't considered acceptable behavior.

What kind of help are you looking for here, OP?

We only let them grab our butts when we know they are going to give us good satisfaction scores. :sarcastic: :sarcastic:

Apparently our current president disagrees with you about what is normal....:wideyed:

It would seem so.

His own words regarding "The Art of the Grab" indicate that he has his own rather convoluted interpretation of the concept of noblesse oblige...

Oh come on ya'll, we all know that was just locker room talk. Just look at him, you can tell he is really athletic and spends a lot of time in locker rooms. :sarcastic: :sarcastic:
