I am not sure what I want to do. It is not set in stone, however, I have an externship opportunity at our regional burn center starting in January. I am pretty stoked about that!
Thought I would like ER until my wife (BSN) moved into ER and comes home with all of her stories.
I am our NSNA chapter president and we just started a monthly "Meet & Greet" event. We ask RNs in specialties that we might not have a rotation in that dept to come and share with us what they do. We provide lunch for everyone while the program is going on. The first one (last Thursday) we had a flight nurse come in; she was great! Flight nursing sounds like a really great gig. I was in the US Coast Guard (100 years ago) and being in helicopters was cool then; BUT, by the time I did 3 years in a ICU and got all of the ACLS, etc, I would be 58. Perhaps not a realistic goal to shoot for.....
Once I have some experience and my wife finishes her MSN, we want to do travel nursing for 2-3 years.
In 10 years wewwwww. I should have way accomplished my goal as a PA or ARNP. Hopefully find a nice gentleman, get married. any takers lol
But for now I'm interested in going into Cath Lab after I graduate in 2010 with my BSN.
Good luck to all students in whatever your dreams and aspirations are!
The sky is the limit.

Hey guys, just started the nursing program at my school. I'll finish up in the Spring of 2010. I got to thinking the other day about where I want to be in 10 years. For me, I'll be 34 and hopefully working in trauma, ICU, ER, or flight nursing. I'd also like to earn my BSN. Anyway, I thought it would be a fun question to pose to the other guys on here. So, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
