I would recommend subbing first. You can look on local school websites.

100% so you can get a taste for it. Also schoolspring.com posts jobs. Get a free account on there and do a job search.

Each district will post openings on their employment pages. Also k12jobspot.com posts all jobs in education including school nurses.
Also each state requires different licensure or certification. I am in Minnesota and have a Licensed School Nurse license that is issued by the state Board of Teaching similar to how my RN license is issued by the state Board of Nursing.

In our state some school nurses are hired by the school district and others by the health department. Start by checking the websites of the school district and health departments in your area. If a sub position comes open, apply. I didn't want to apply for a sub position at first because I thought, "I don't want to sub, I want to be full-time!" But it got my foot in the door and when a full-time position opened I was offered the job. That way you will also know if it's something you don't want to do full-time and you wont be stuck in a job you don't like, you can just stop subbing.
Best of luck.
