In pain and need advice!

Published

I discovered what I thought was a bump under my breast a few months ago and now it has gotten bigger and hard. It's a hard lump under my breast and it hurts now. It's also red, my friend said it might be a clogged milk duct and she said try massaging it and putting something warm on it. I try pressing down on it and massaging it and now it hurts and it hasn't went down. It's like it got bigger over night. I was wondering could it be a clogged duct or something serious. I plan on calling the doctor monday.

Hi lashon,

Yes, do call your physician Monday. Breasts are very glandular, it very well could be a clogged or infected duct. O'course the only way to be sure is to see what the doc says.

Have you had a baby recently? Are you breast feeding? In my own experience this can happen under these circumstances. Sounds to me if it seems to be getting bigger so quickly it is probably some kind of infection. Do you have an elevated temp?

Don't worry too much. Let us know how your doctors visit goes.

{{{{{lashon20}}}}} Will keep you in my prayers.

Thanks for the advice and prayers. My son is 3 years old and I was breastfeeding. I am currently weening him and I thought that might be a reason. But I'm definately going to call the doctor cause it's painful.

Hi lashon20, sounds very simular to a sebaceous cyst which may very well need to be drained if in fact that's what it is... They can be very painful getting more so as it enlarges. It may have a soft spot. It may also be reddish and warm to the touch. They generally won't take care of themselves. So do as LisaRN2B says and get to the Dr. Nothing to worry about at this juncture. Use warm moist heat for the pain

HI

PLEASE, PLEASE call your MD on Monday!! It may be nothing real serious, but you need to let the Doctor be the judge.

Let us all know how it goes.

Good Luck

You called your doctor. Now is the time to listen to no one ( but I liked the idea it might be a cyst)

It is , exactly what your doc says it is. Bet he makes it go away also.

Just a quick question....

Your son is 3 years old, and you are just weaning him????

Many people (and the La Leche League) have no problem with that.

This is not unusall

I had my boys 13 months apart the oldest of the two wasn't weaned until the youngest was weaned and that was at age 21/2

yes that made my oldest 4

the breast feeding just made me think of a different issue, sould like it can be mastitis. Sounds like time to switch fast to a bottle. Longest I have heard about was 5 years, sorry all, I bottle fed, shoot me
