In Need of Advice for an Urgent Care Clinic job Please?

Some of you know I was terminated from my last clinic job after I was accused of "turning patients away" which was not the case all. The physician I was working with would have me call down to the walk-in clinic some days and have me tell them not to send the overflow up to her because she was leaving early. On the day I was terminated one of the secretaries in the walk-in clinic went the CEO (after I had called to inform them my Doctor was leaving early) and told him I was turning patients away. I never had a chance to defend myself and the CEO never spoke to me directly. He had someone else fire me.

Anyway, I have an interview tomorrow with an Urgent Care Clinic and want to be honest, but I don't want to blow my chances. I've never been terminated so I don't know how to explain what happened, other than just telling the interviewer exactly what happened. I really want this job! Help?

Not hearing yet about an interview on Monday does not mean it's a negative outcome. Things take time. Trying to round up people in a clinic is hard as there is usually no down time except lunch which is never really down time. Try to be patient. You've done what you can :)

Crossing my fingers for you. If it helps, when I applied for the job I just left.. It took about a month from mailing in my resume to getting called for an interview. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to it?

Thank you both. I won't lose hope just yet. If things don't work out, I'm thankful I have a job for now :)

Question; Should I even tell them tomorrow in the MDS Coordinator interview I was terminated from the last clinic? Or maybe just tell them it wasn't a good fit because my heart is in Geriatrics? Of course if they say they are going to call the Nurse Manager for a reference then I won't have a choice. My gosh. A termination sure can be a game changer :(

LTCNS, how are things going for you?

I was just coming to this thread to update. You read my mind ;)

This past Monday I FINALLY heard from the last manager I interviewed with, the clinic I was really wanting to get into. I went back in this morning to meet the NP I will be working with and was offered the job. Now I'm waiting on HR to make an official offer with a salary quote and to let me know when I need to come in and do all the on-boarding stuff. It took so long because corporate drug their feet approving the position. I'm excited, but in the back of my mind I'm scared everything will fall through. I won't feel like it's in the bag or give notice at my job until I get that official offer from HR.

I got the official offer today and am scheduled to start all the pre-employment stuff next Tuesday. The pay isn't what I was hoping it would be, pretty much what I'm making now, but they have good benefits and the experience will be good for me. Right now I have zero benefits, no 401k, no PTO, no vacation time or sick leave but my commute is much closer than the new job will be. I suppose the benefits of the new job outweigh the "benefits" of the current job.

How did things turn out at the clinic?
