In Need of Advice for an Urgent Care Clinic job Please?

Some of you know I was terminated from my last clinic job after I was accused of "turning patients away" which was not the case all. The physician I was working with would have me call down to the walk-in clinic some days and have me tell them not to send the overflow up to her because she was leaving early. On the day I was terminated one of the secretaries in the walk-in clinic went the CEO (after I had called to inform them my Doctor was leaving early) and told him I was turning patients away. I never had a chance to defend myself and the CEO never spoke to me directly. He had someone else fire me.

Anyway, I have an interview tomorrow with an Urgent Care Clinic and want to be honest, but I don't want to blow my chances. I've never been terminated so I don't know how to explain what happened, other than just telling the interviewer exactly what happened. I really want this job! Help?

In my mind the interview went very well. We went over the basics and ended up chatting. Before I knew it I had been in there for an hour and a half! She really likes the fact that I have a a couple years of experience with EMRs and know a good bit about coding and the importance of thorough documentation for reimbursement, as well as the importance of annual Medicare wellness visits. I want this job more than any job I've wanted in years. She has one more interview and will make a decision soon. I could use all the prayers, good vibes, good thoughts, etc...I can get :D Thanks!

This sounds great!! Chatting for over an hour is a great sign!

I hope so Oedgar! If it doesn't happen I'll just keep plugging along but I can't say I wouldn't be very disappointed. She asked when I could start if she decides to go with me and we decided on October 5th, which is when the next orientation is.

Good luck! Maybe send a thank you or, better yet, deliver it and add something about additional skills you have and how you feel you could contribute to their mission.

I would love to do that, but the Manager is never in the same clinic day to day and she didn't give me a business card with an e-mail address. I had to call two different clinics yesterday to track her down and let her know I was on my way.

I left a message for the Nurse Manager who interviewed me yesterday thanking her for taking the time to meet me at the clinic I hope to be working in, and for interviewing me. Maybe she won't think I'm a stalker haha!!

I still haven't heard anything from either manager. Just goes to show just because you *think* an interview went really well, it doesn't mean you will get a job offer. This termination thing has ruined me I'm afraid :(

Did the termination come up? We're you able to discuss it? I hope it turns out ok

She asked why I left the last clinic. I told her it was because of a misunderstanding so she asked me to explain. I told her the truth and she was very understanding, even saying she knows how clinics tend to side with the physicians, then we moved on and had a few laughs and just a good overall interview and conversation. Maybe I haven't given it enough time. I want this to work out so badly.

I have an interview next Monday afternoon for a MDS Coordinator position. I have about 15 years experience there so maybe this one will go better. *Sigh* I really want to get back into clinic work.

Have you reached out to them to follow up/show interest??

I have with both of them and my calls have not been returned. I understand they're very busy but I would at least like to hear something you know? I was so hopeful when the Nurse Manager from the Monday interview asked when I could start, then she said she had one more interview and had to meet with the NP who she is bringing a new nurse on board for. I don't know when the other person was supposed to be interviewed, so maybe I'm just impatient.

Crossing my fingers for you. If it helps, when I applied for the job I just left.. It took about a month from mailing in my resume to getting called for an interview. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to it?
