Some of you know I was terminated from my last clinic job after I was accused of "turning patients away" which was not the case all. The physician I was working with would have me call down to the walk-in clinic some days and have me tell them not to send the overflow up to her because she was leaving early. On the day I was terminated one of the secretaries in the walk-in clinic went the CEO (after I had called to inform them my Doctor was leaving early) and told him I was turning patients away. I never had a chance to defend myself and the CEO never spoke to me directly. He had someone else fire me.
Anyway, I have an interview tomorrow with an Urgent Care Clinic and want to be honest, but I don't want to blow my chances. I've never been terminated so I don't know how to explain what happened, other than just telling the interviewer exactly what happened. I really want this job! Help?

Honesty will be the best policy, however you do not want to seem like you are bad-mouthing your previous employer. I would be direct and concise on the situation and state that there were some misunderstandings and you have learned from the situation. Don't let that run your interview, focus on the positives you can bring to them and their clinic. Good luck!
Thank you! I really did like my job there and was completely blind sided by what happened. I did find out the Physician has since left the practice, so it's possible they did some investigating and found out what really happened. If that's the case, I would love an apology and the termination being changed to a resignation, but I won't hold my breath.

That physician you worked with... leaving early... sounds like some of the b.s. I put up with. I wonder if you could say something like, "I was terminated over a misunderstanding that I was never given the opportunity to clear up. Would you like to hear about it, or shall I move on?" Good luck to you!
Thank you Oedgar! That's great!
The interview, in my opinion, went well. The pay is excellent for my state as far as clinics, and full benefits including a 401k. I should hear something by Monday. Praying.

I've secured an interview for another urgent care clinic on Monday. If one doesn't pan out, maybe the other one will
