In desperate need of advice!!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey guys!

so I'm scheduled to take my NCLEX IN 2 DAYS!! July 20th to be exaxt!!

i am so nervous and I'm trying to not get discouraged about my mediocre scores on Kaplan.

my overall qbank score is 58%

question trainer 1: 46.7%

question trainer 2: 66.7%

question trainer 3: 45%

question trainer 4: 52%

question trainer 5: 50%

question trainer 6: 54%

question trainer 7: pending

readiness test: pending

i was told by my instructors that the probability of me passing would be for me to score nothing higher than a 65% in each client need category and scoring a 60-65% on the question trainers. As you can see I'm no where need that and that's scarring me. I feel like I have been studying forever and I'm starting to forget little things which is no Bueno! My scores fluctuates which really doesn't give me an idea of my performance. I have watched almost all the content Kaplan videos, read the content review book that follows up with the videos, I did all of the qbank. What more should I do?!? I have less than 2 days and I feel like I'm nowhere close to being ready. I plan to knock the readiness test and question trainer 7 out by Tuesday. You guys have any suggestions for me? I'm so nervous and filled with anxiety 😢😔😞😥

You either know it, or you don't. I suggest you go to Disneyland or some similar type of place. That's what I did to prepare for NCLEX, and apparently, it works.

I think that number crunching and studying too much increases anxiety. ***I found that the more I studied, the more I would realize that I wouldn't learn EVERYTHING, and the more I felt pressured, and the more I felt that there wasn't enough time, which increased my anxiety, and led me to have difficulty concentrating because I wasn't concentrating on the scenario or question at hand, I was focused on numbers and percentages. (Although that is valid to consider because whether you pass or not depends on percentage, but I don't think that should run your life, you should strive to understand the answers, and why the correct answer is the best answer) There is not enough time to perfect everything. And it is definitely not reasonable or worth your sleep and peace of mind number crunching. In the end, no one cares about numbers and percentages, they only care that they passed and that they got their license.

I think you should change your focus. Focus on resting your brain the night before. I did not study a pinch the entire day before boards because refer to ***. Don't run yourself ragged watching videos, doing questions and number crunching. Number crunching itself is taking too much energy out of you. As a nurse, you will have to prioritize your energy and time. And that starts now. Accept that you will not perfect everything. I don't think you should make any drastic changes to your study plan. I think you should accept where your knowledge level is, it is unrealistic to think it will increase very much in such a shot amount of time. A lot of test taking strategies and basic knowledge is developed throughout nursing school, not over a period of 2 days. Trust your training. Trust yourself. Don't think ahead past your test date. Focus on the test, strive to do your best. When you get your results you will be able to say that, whether you pass or not, you gave it your all. And you should be very proud of that. Good luck to you! You might surprise yourself-you could be one of those nurses that works well under pressure!

Thanks lexylooRN. You're right. I'm getting to the point where my brain just needs a break. Either I know it or I don't. I do well when work under pressure but the anxiety I create doesn't do me any good. Thanks for your advice
