Immunization & Health Requirements + 10 Panel Drug Screening

Published

Hey everyone. I'm currently preparing to start nursing school this upcoming Spring, but I'm having difficulty finding a place to get all of my health requirements and drug test done. I do not have health insurance and my college does offer these services but since I'm not enrolled in any classes this semester, they won't allow me to have it done on campus.

I need proof of:

MMR - Titer

Variecella - Titer

Tdap/Tetorifice

Hep B - Titer

Physical Check up

Urine Test

I needed some recommendations/advice of what my best options are. Thanks so much.

I would look into your school again because if you're accepted into the program you should be able to do it there.

Or go to a clinic & ask for a cash paying physical, show them the form you need filled out. Usually clinics are cheaper if your vaccines are part of a full physical.

Does your school want titers even with proof you already had vaccines? My school only wanted titers if proof of vaccine wasn't there. Like varicella I had it as a child but no proof, so they wanted a titer for proof, but MMR, hep b I had those so I didn't need a titer. That can save you money too, ask what exactly they need.

Just curious, doesn't your school request for you to show proof of insurance before you are accepted? Before you spend on titers/vaccines ask about that maybe you do and can have this done after you get your insurance.

Good luck!!

HepB always requires a titer. You can try a public clinic or nurse practitioner site in a pharmacy. They often list pricing online I know CVS does.

Try calling customer service for lab corp. & quest. They have discounts for those paying cash/un or underinsured

Not all schools require proof of insurance. Some states changed this rule as a result of the affordable care act. The NSNA dropped their discounted student nurse policy because of ACA rules.

We need to be enrolled for the current semester in order to be able to take advantage of the health services at the college.

My school requires titers for MMR, Varicella, and Hep B and depending on results, we may or may not need to get vaccinated. Do you know generally how much titers alone should cost? Then from there I could go to the low cost options for the actual vaccines.

My nursing program did not request proof of insurance.

I'm getting so nervous because I need to have all this done by the end of Dec. and I've been calling different clinics + doing some research online but no luck. Thanks so much for your reply.

I checked the CVS website and they do list the prices online, thank you so much. It's also a bit cheaper than the clinic I called yesterday. Not sure if they do titers though, I'll have to look into that.

Call lab corp & quest they do offer discounts for titers if you pay in cash. It has to be approved by their customer relations department and you do need a APN/PA-C/MD/DO order to get the titers done

Have you tried county/state clinics? They are usually cheaper.

Didn't know this, wish my school changed their policy. I was out of a job & scrambling for a cheap plan when I got accepted :(

Wow at schools requiring proof of insurance. I Am glad my school never did this.

Many times it was a state requirement for all full time students not an independent school requirement.

For my titers I was able to go through mdlabtests. You go online order and pay for them then go to lab corp. for the blood work. They were around $40-$50 each. For me it was cheaper than going to my regular healthcare provider.

I got mine through a nearby urgent care center. It was $225 for MMR and Varicella Titers. If you need the vaccines, in my area, the health department was the cheapest. $350 for MMR, Varicella, Tdap and Hep B.
