Help! I've been sick for several weeks now. Early December, I started out with a horrible sore throat. No swollen tonsils, no pus. Sore throat and hoorificeness were my only symptoms. By about 5 days of symptoms, I started coughing. After another 4-5 days of coughing (total a week and a half of symptoms) I went to an urgent care clinic. They gave me Tussionex to take qhs and the perrls for cough during daytime (cannot remember name of med). MD suggested Delsym for daytime cough. The perrls didn't help. So, now I'm in at least my third week of coughing. It's been slightly productive (yellowish to clear, depending on my fluid intake). I have to blow my nose frequently. I am so tired of this! I'm on my FOURTH bag of cough drops. I'm out of prescreption meds, and am going to go broke buying more OTC! My posterior chest wall HURTS, esp when I cough. I'm a student, so I'm fairly broke, but at least I have insurance. Does anyone have experience with these symptoms (yourself or seen witness to?). I've been lucky so far that I haven't gotten an ear or sinus infections (I manage to do that with almost every cold). What about the chest pain (it's only when coughing, on left posterior wall)? I know I need to see an MD again, but I'm out of town, and it's Christmas Day. I keep hoping if I put it off it will go away, but obviously, it hasn't. Tips and comments appreciated. -Andrea
I take and suck on vit c gtts. They are in the same section as the cough gtts but they have a lot of vit c. The first thing that I used to use was cough gtts until I found out about vit c gtts.
:balloons:
I had the same problem too, but I didnt wait to go to my doctor, and he prescribed me throat and tonsil DR, a very good medication to cure throat infections. I thought I wouldnt be able to swallow my food, but just live on soup and unchewable food. But thanks to THROAT AND TONSIL DR, I pulled through very quickly.
Please see your doctor/NP.
No one here can tell for sure what is going on, seems an excessive time to be this ill and it's time for a NEW exam and tx by your own HCP. Here's hoping you feel better soon!
Please remember, giving and receiving advice of medical nature is not allowed on allnurses.com. No advice here can ever take the place of that of your own HCP.
Do take care!
