I'm scared!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

I'm scheduled to take NCLEX this coming week, but I'm scared. I don't know if I'm ready, don't know if I should postpone it or reschedule it. I have taken it once before and failed. This is my second time. I've studied, but not as much as I wish I had. Should I take it or put it on hold?.. I don't want to let my parents down because they are helping me pay for my bills, rent, etc. What should I do?

the pressure is on!

i'm scheduled to write my NCLEX Jan 20 and i'm already scared...i can only imagine how you're feeling right at this moment...first of all, you have one advantage working for you: you've taken the NCLEX once before, so you have a sense of what you can expect...second, you still have one week to do as many practice questions as you can! added pressure will make you get the work done!

if you reschedule your test, is there a fee and is there a valid time period for you to register? for me, my test is valid to write within 3 months...and Jan 20 is the last day...if i wanted to reschedule it later, i would have to pay for the exam fee again...in that case, i would just study as much i could in one week and take the exam...

good luck to you and tell us what you decide!

Yes I know exactly what you mean. Fortunately, there is no fee to reschedule. I have up to a year to schedule my test and take it (from my understanding). This is here in California, and I have up to 24 hrs prior to the scheduled appointment to reschedule or unschedule myself. I'm scheduled to take it this coming Tuesday, which is why I'm wondering now what I should do!.. I'm thinking of maybe delaying it until after Christmas, although I really wanted to take it before so HOPEFULLY I'd be able to give my parents a real nice Xmas gift, if you know what I mean. But with the way I'm feeling right now, I'm just not so sure if I'm ready. :uhoh21:

:uhoh21: hrmm.....in that case, if i KNEW i wasn't prepared to write such a big exam, i would definately reschedule it....yes, it would be a nice christmas present for your parents if you pass, but if you're not ready for it and you don't pass, then it might be even more disappointing for them...remember, this exam is about YOU and YOUR career...i wouldn't suggest you to take the NCLEX just for your parent's sake....there's more pressure associated to that!!! just do what you think is right and follow your gut instinct! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! :)

I DEFINITELY agree with you! I took mine due to pressure to get it done, when I sincerely felt that I needed to cover more information. I know that there is no way to know everything, but there were things that I planned to study that I didn't: Peds & OB. When I took my test, as luck would have it, I had a good deal of Peds & OB...and I was stuck like chuck! Please, please, please, if you don't feel ready, go with your instincts. Again, while there is no way to know EVERYTHING, you can at least study the materials that you do have. Do not leave anything to chance with this test!

To get an idea about how you prepared you are/are not for the NCLEX it would be prudent to take a practice exam using NCLEX questions that you have not been exposed to previously. Most NCLEX prep books have comprehsive pre and post tests that you can use. If you prefer computer testing there are numerous NCLEX CDs available. Whatever you use I would complete a large number of questions, 265 would mirror the maximum number of questions possible on the NCLEX.

You can evaluate your test results to determine your areas of strength and weakness. This will help you determine how ready you are now, and what you need to study to be successful on NCLEX.

Psychological preparation/confidence in your abilities is just as important as the amount of knowledge you have. So if you have doubts in your ability to be successful you should listen to your inner voice and do what you need to, so that you are prepared fully to be confident when you take the NCLEX. Good luck with your decision.

Well, just read your post Dimplez, and I remember the first time you tested..HELLO!!!...I sincerely hope you went ahead and took that test last Tuesday...Because if you know like I know ...You are well prepared!!! You only expressed the anxiety of taking this TEST like we all do even if for the first time... And for me I tend to do well with internal pressure, it drives me to stress enough to just get the job done... POSITIVE VIBES coming your way...Keep us posted.
