I'm moving to the tampa area and in need of advice?!

My husband and I will be moving just north of Tampa this summer and I'm looking for a good, reputable hospital to work at. I'm not really sure what the average pay is in florida, since most of the jobs I've looked at says the pay is "N/A". I have 1 year experience in Oncology/Palliative. We have looked at houses online to rent, and most of them don't seem to be very expensive but curious how easy they are to rent? I'm very excited to make the move, but it's stressful trying to figure all of this out from so far away . If anyone has any comments about any of the above, I'd really appreciate it!

Since you have Oncology/Palliative care experience look into the Moffitt Cancer Center. It was a great place to work. They paid very well when I was there. Check out there website. I was there for 6yrs and learned alot. Let me know if you have any questions about Tampa. Welcome to Florida!!!:)

Thanks for the info! I've heard about Moffitt from a friend that lives down there and I would love to work there. I just didn't know if there was any other good place to work, in case I'm not able to get on at Moffitt. Do you know about their benefits or if they offer any relocation package or sign on bonus?

I am not sure about relocation packages but I had great benefits while I was there. The only difference there is that they have the professional practice floors which is salaried--I worked on one of those floors, and then you have the hourly floors. I found that the salary floors paid me very well while I was there. I thought the hourly floors paid a little less, although you could get overtime if you chose to. I wish you well while you are in Tampa!!!:)

Please give us an update when you move and find a place to live! I am interested in moving there too in about a year.

Thanks for all the help! Chica_bella...i seen a post from you on another thread regarding travel/per diem nursing. Do you know of any good legit companies down there? I thought about doing that until we actually get settled in..so I can really get to know the area and what the area has to offer!

Moffitt has amazing benefits (one of the things they're known for). Health benefits are good and there are educational assistance benefits as well which is how I'll be paying for nursing school. The PTO accrual is pretty good as well. Did you have any specific benefit questions?

Not really any specific thing, except maybe relocation or sign on bonus? Coming 1/2 way across the US is so expensive and I'm trying to be realistic but at the same time, get the best opportunity possible.
