aww nursing student 19........yes we have all had this same situation. hugs going out to you. and yes, this is a good place for school nurse's to vent. that's why we are here for ya ! i have problems with certain teachers too. they think they rule the world ! hope you have a better day tomorrow sweetie !

Everyone has those kind of days...we want you to let it all out here. Sometimes it's not easy to let things just go and most of us understand that!! Usually, once you "yell out loud" it's all better! And anyways, what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. Probably the reason this world is going to heck in a handbag is because we have been taught just to "let it go". You stand up for what is right!!!! (I am sooooo tempted on a daily basis to correct the incorrect english I hear our teachers speaking while addressing parents or students! Don't think they would like us doing that for them, would they??)Tomorrow is a new start :)
Girl I feel your frustration! I had the same thing happen to me this year and I was highly upset! I told the principal about it and he agreed with me that it should not work that way. He was going to talk to her about it and I told him I wanted to and I did. She appoligized but I still think she calls the parents from her cell phone and I just don't know about it. Oh well!
I really want to tell these teachers, "I don't come to your classroom and critique your lesson plans, please don't come to my clinic and question my nursing judgment". I cannot stand when a lay person tries to substitute his/her judgment for mine when it comes to medical issues. Unless you have RN, LVN, MD or something close to that behind your name, shut up!
I had the school call me a few weeks ago (not suprisingly right before my daughter was supposed to have a math test

its 3:13pm ( school lets out at 3:50pm) student comes in with teacher. and it goes like this: teacher says student looks like he is about to vomit. student just ate a snack and he denies any other symptoms. so i take his temp. and its normal. he rests in the health room for a few minutes and next he is sent back to class to get ready for dismissal. his teacher asked me to call his dad to pick him up, and i kindly explained that he did not have a fever, and did not vomit and his snack probably made his tummy a little upset, and besides he will be going home very soon anyway. i told her i will send home a note. she insisted that i call because his parents are always worried about him, i told her no need to call and if they do have a concern about it tomorrow then i'll be happy to explain why i did not call.
five minutes later the students' parent is calling me. he says the teacher called him to pick up the student for home. i told him there was no indication that he needed to go home right away. i explained what the complaint was and the students temp. dad was completely ok with this. he tells me " well i guess the teacher was just covering her self"
i'm just so sick of this. :angryfire:angryfire
well thanks for letting me vent ! it was either going down there and letting that teacher have it or coming to an. what makes me upset the most is that i personally told her the reasons why i'm not calling and she calls anyway !
