I'm Queen Lazy. Register right away and just take a shot at it. You might pass. I didn't tell anyone I was taking my boards(except for my parents and a couple of friends) because I was worried I was going to fail. But I passed and everyone was very happy to hear I passed. They had a party for me at my old non-nursing job.

Where do i start... I had an epiphany last week in clinical....
My clinical instructor, an amazing ER nurse who makes our brains hurt with the sheer complexity of his questioning made a comment re: Nursing students who get by doing the minimum of work.and are lazy-they dont have the passion for thier learning that ensures success.
whoa!!!! That sounds like me for the most part..... I do get stressed once in a while and study material to death but for the most part, im a pretty good test taker and i manage to pass.
Graduation looms in 6 weeks....
im going to be the new grad who freaks out over mundane tasks....
i feel like i have 2 yrs of work to catch up on in 6 weeks... i'm even thinking of taking the NCLEX later because i'll probably fail... since the exams we have been taking in class have got nothing on the Licensure one.
Moral of this story....
Dont be me.... Just work really hard from day one... and even if it seems that you're getting away with less effort, challenge yourself and really understand the material....

I think you are thinking yourself to death. A lot of new grads give themselves less credit than due.

For a minute I thought u were describing me. I had that trait all through school n still passed d boards. Everyone had said d best advice, dont wait too long to take d test. Study hard, motivate yourself. Now is not the time top read books but practice questions your books now are for references. Queations u missed n what not. N fretting about it shows u r serious. Believe in yourself like u did in nursing school

I was the same way in nursing school. I figured out what exactly I needed to study to pass, and did only that. Do I regret it??? No way! I needed to work full time while I was in school to pay the bills, so I did what I had to in order to make it happen. I also passed the NCLEX in 75 questions, and I took it less than three weeks after graduating. So don't sweat it! Take a review class if you're really worried, but whatever you do, don't wait to take the boards!

You sound like me, OP. I didn't study every waking moment in nursing school. I did well. I wouldn't say I'm a "good" test taker, because, frankly, tests determine what you know. You know it, or you don't. There's not a whole lot to be "good" at.

Anyway. I didn't study my ass off after graduation or delay the NCLEX. I passed first time with 75 questions.

The NCLEX is far from difficult.

I started out in the ER. I've done well.

You'll be fine. Don't let anyone psych you out.
