Take the practice test in book.... then read the rationales for the ones you missed. The book is set up to let you know what you need by judging what you are weak in....then go to the units you didnt test knowledge of.

Nursing is not just given to anyone...it is meant to be hard.

I am trying to study but I don't think I can study the whole book a lot of stuff is new to me. I wish this wasn't the only thing to make it into the nursing program

Try to stay positive! When do you take the exam? If you have already taken the nursing pre reqs you should already have a handle on the science portion so just skim that section! I found the ATI practice book to be EXTREMELY helpful. Do you have it? The examples are parallel to what is on the test. Use that as your only tool and YOU WILL pass!

Don't give up, just keep practicing until you test. I basically had to teach myself the math as I was horrible at it before the test, and ended up doing very well. It can be done.

I just took the TEAS V last night and absolutely agree with HappyWife77. The most important thing to do is study what you are unfamiliar with and take the practice tests. I'm not strong in math at all. I had to go back and review nearly all of it. However, the math is very basic and comes back easily once you get into it. Just keep practicing if that is an area you are struggling with. The reading is pretty straight forward. Read the questions first, skim the paragraphs, then pay careful attention to what the questions are asking. The vocabulary was pretty easy for me, but I've been an avid reader all my life. I think that's helped throughout the years. Science: what can I say. That was the hardest part for me. I think the only reason I got some of them correct is because I've has some A&P this semester. I've had some chemistry this semester too, but I'm sure that's the section of questions I flopped on the TEAS. I honestly hate that class. Anyways, the science is very basic. Things to know that will also help with related questions: DNA, meiosis, mitosis, respiration, cell structure, and topics from general biology like kingdom, phylum, etc. I had a couple earth science questions. Know directional terms of A&P. Best for A&P review is the endocrine system because of hormones and glands; anatomy of it, as well as physiology. However, you may get questions regarding other systems. All tests are different. Overall, my experience with the test went quite well. We had to score a 57 overall and I got a 77. I know that's lower than many other schools, but it is a "Proficient" score. Just to let you know, I was not an A student in high school (mostly Cs and Ds as a matter-of-fact) and in college, I had to do a couple developmental math courses before I got into Math 101; our basic college-level math which is the equivalent of high school Algebra 1. It's been a tough road, but persistence and studying pays off. I didn't mean to get into a long spiel, just wanted to let you know passing is possible. Don't review things you already know and practice what you don't :)

I took my TEAS after 4 days of studying and got an overall 67%, I took it today. Which is high enough to get into my nursing school for the RN program. My advice, hit the science HARD...It was horrible. I got A's in my science courses but some of that stuff was out of left feild, like asking about the way the sun hits the surface of earth, yada yada...Things you learned in life science in 9th grade, not just anatomy and physiology like the pre-reqs require. A&P is my jam, but very few questions asked about it, a lot of it was about genetics as well, chemistry and that stuff. To be honest...I guessed a lot of it.

I know the feeling. It can be disheartening looking at the massive book and thinking any minute detail could be a possible exam question. This is especially true for the sciences. Just try to remember that the best things in life are worth fighting for! If you really want to pursue a career in nursing, you're going to have to give it everything you've got, especially with how competitive things are right now. Slowing and meticulously work through a couple of pages of the ATI study guide every day until you make it all the way through. After that, take one of the online practice tests on the ATI website to identify your weaknesses. Hit the books again and work on your weaknesses.

I hated the TEAS test. But you just have to take the plunge and really bury yourself in studying. Unfortunately, there is no way around it. You have to do good to get a shot at nursing school. Just pray about it and do your best.
