I'm going out on a limb here...

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone!

I really don't like asking these types of questions but I need to try everything... I didn't pass the nclex and I'm super down about it. I don't have money to shell out for another review course but from what I am reading Kaplan seems like it would help me tremendously.. So...

Hi, I have used Kaplan, Hurst video, saunders strategies and comprehensive book, davis....but what I did differently is purchased the Lippincott Prep U 10,000. I don't know if you heard of it but I bought it at amazon for $89, and you will get access to the website to practice nclex style question, and it also came with the book. This Prep U is what made me pass!! I did about 4,000 questions. It taught me how to practice answering questions and I think that made the difference. Also, I suggest to go find the lippincott pass point, they give 2 wks free trial and you can practice nclex style question. After you take the exam, it will show you if you will likely pass nclex. I also signed up for that using multiple email after my 2wks period ended. I suggest doing that too!

Thanks so much for all of the advice! It really is greatly appreciated!!!! I'll look into that! 😊😊

You are very fortunate to have parents willing to help. It will payoff in the end. Don't give up on what you worked so hard for. Best of luck. Am retesting (2nd try) in exactly 4 wks. So you are not alone here.

I used Hurst, Kaplan and NCSBN. It really depends on what would make you successful. If you need content, then Hurst and NCSBN are the way to go. I do have to say that NCSBN, for ME, was tedious for the content. It does help you figure out what you don't know and then you can study more about it. They give you websites and resources for more material and their test bank is great. Hurst is great for content and the videos can be very entertaining so that you remember things. I did not work too much through their questions, so can't speak on that. Kaplan is good for knowing how to answer the questions. They do have videos that cover content. But I think Kaplan's strong point is teaching you how to sort of break down the questions. That's what you do at the Kaplan live reviews. There is no content there.

Having said all that, I realize these programs are expensive. I agree with going with NCSBN as the cheapest alternative that gets the job done. As someone has already said, there are free resources available and I think the best thing is to practice as many questions as possible. I wish you the best!
