I'm not crying, you're crying

It started when a sweetpea with a chronic condition (well known to me) came in to have my sign her yearbook. In the 9th grade she spent a lot of lunches resting in the clinic because she was concerned about her condition and what other people thought. This year she was a Prominee for Queen.

Then we were invited to a kid's "graduation party" in the library. Our SPED staff threw a big shindig for the young man we all thought would never graduate. He spent most of 9th grade being physically restrained. This year I found out that part of his plan was to go out and set up the bases for baseball, and water the field. And he did this willingly, with no defiance.

THEN the 12th grader who had early onset sepsis this fall came in with chips and salsa to say thanks.

I'm not crying up in here....someone's cutting onions.

:inlove: These stories make the bad days seem not so bad. We are having such a positive impact in the lives of theses students.

I'm moving to a new district next school year and am having to say good-bye to all my frequents soon. I even bought my two diabetics medical alert jewelry (low income school) as a good-bye. Stop it. I'm not crying, you're crying.

I too am changing from elementary to MS and changing districts. I am going to miss my kids, I just need to have some potty trained students. My Muscular Dystrophy student and self cath. students are moving up to MS so I feel like I am leaving a clean slate for the next nurse. Whomever gets this clinic next will find a well organized Health Office with the best darn med cart in the world!
