ILA OPI Information

Hi,

I'm planning to take the ILA OPI next friday. Anyone who knows anything about ILA OPI? What questions are being asked? How long will it take to finish the exam? and How would i prepare for this exam??? I need to take this exam to get a license here in Maryland.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

That's fine. It's easy to send a private message to someone. All you have to do is to go to my account tab, then click on create message then type in the title that you want, as well as the recipient. Just type my userid which is paolountalan26.

it says i need to make 15posts before i can send a message. oh well,. that test was ok, i was 20mins late because of the traffic in the beltway. first thing he asked was about personal information, and then he asked me some issues that a nurse deals with in the hospital, synonyms and antonyms, the last was the email, he told me to read the email, analyze and he asked me question after that, and generalized what it is all about. the result will be available on the 5th of oct. goodluck to you. speak up, be confident..

Sorry don't know that you need to make 15 post in order to send a message. Cool. I'm still waiting for my confirmation to take the test. Now, at least i have an idea about the test and how it is being administered. Any tips you can give me?? Sorry, I know i'm asking too much from you. Btw, i'm gonna be sending you a message about the topic and tidbits about the NCLEX exam..lol

Hi Paolo, 1.Try to answer the questions with more than yes or no give as many details as possible, 2. avoid using long sentences because it is prone to error. 3. do not talk too fast or too slow.. Be confident. I know you will do great. the interviewer might tell you not to be afraid to commit a mistake because he is testing your maximum ability. Good luck!

Thanks for all your tips. Just received their confirmation letter today. My exam would be on October 9, 2010 at 12:30 pm. The site will be at Charlestown Retirement Community. I'm gonna be sending you a message regarding some tidbits about the NCLEX exam...I'll try to send the topics this coming week. Thanks again and hope to meet you one of these days. By the way, i was able to get a temporary license from the BON and i already applied for some Hospitals and Nursing Homes here in MD. Goodluck to your NCLEX exam. You could definitely pass it.

I also had my interview at Charlestown Retirement Community with Mr. Matthiesen. And i received my score last tuesday, and was so happy that I passed it. Now, I have to focus for my nclex. NO Paolo, there's no dress code, i was wearing casual shirt and jeans. And they didnt complain about it. I saw the person before me, he was wearing tshirt and shorts,. Unlike in the Phils that every interview we need to be formal and dress good. You will do great, I know... Goodluck!

Hi Linney,

I sent you a private message regarding the OPI exam. Well generally, ILA OPI is an English Proficiency exam that tests your maximum proficiency level to determine if you're suited to work as a nurse in the state of MD. It's an open-ended interview, which means that the interviewer could ask anything under the sun. The interviewer would rate you in the following areas:

a.Pronunciation

b.Grammar and expression

c.Socio cultural

d.Vocabulary

e.Fluency

f.Comprehension

Remember that pronunciation and comprehension are more heavily weighted by policy of the MD BON. Good luck on your upcoming interview/exam. I know you will do well on the exam. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to send me a private message

Congratulations to both of you for passing ila opi. I am in the same boat you guys were before. I am also planning to register the opi. I read the discussion you did, and now i feel like to go for it(opi exam):yeah:. I would like to know little more detail abt how to prepare for it, so i can make it on first time! I am kind of scared because of my accents.:crying2: I will really appreciate it if you can send me a private message or if you can provide any suggestions here.
