If you wear Danskos.... How often do you replace shoes?

I've never had a pair of Danskos, but bought something that the shoe salesman said was very similar called an Ariat. They were extremely comfortable for the first 6 months that I had them. I could work 12 hours and my feet and back felt great. Now I come home after work and my back is still good, but my feet are killing me. I feel like I need to go to bed with ice packs on the bottom of my feet.

I stopped in a shoe store today to look at the Dansko shoes again (it was a toss up between the Dansko or the Ariat when I bought the first pair). It seems insanely fast to me for those shoes to have broken down already.

How often do you have to replace your Dansko shoes? Do you replace them right away when your feet start to hurt?

Working as a PCT on 12 hour shifts and I just cannot find the right shoe yet for my aching feet. I have no walking talent at wearing clogs, bought a pair of Sketchers Go Walk and they felt light and so comfortable like walking on little pillows, but it only took a few hours of working those hard hospital floors for my feet to feel like they were walking a pavement without shoes, or one of the shoes to become like a little suction cup on those glossy floors, to make me almost trip and fall. Any ideas on other comfortable brands.

Did any of you find the dansko's fit snug on the top of your foot? Will that go away or should I avoid the brand all together. (they have such cute ones) :(

Danskos (and Sanitas) are hand made, so there will be variances in fit. Try on every pair in the store that is your size (or one size up or down) and buy the pair that fits you the best, even if they're plain old black.

I was hoping to order online. It's a little cheaper that way. Bummer.

Mine are like that. ? I was told they'd stretch out and to give it time. Here I am 9 months later and while they're better they're still not 100% comfortable on the top of my foot. The bottom provides so much support that I can't bear to not wear them!

Wonder if a shoe store can stretch them out on top. They had to do that with some boots I had bought. Just thought of that..hmmmm

I'm surprised that there is countless threads like this and not one single comment about simply removing the synthetic linings in the vamp as well as the polyurethane foam collar insert. This is the best way of modifications along with a really good stretch for those of us who have a high arch and find the Danskos too tight.
